  Description

  In pasture on slight E-facing slope with moderate views in all directions, immediately E of townland boundary with Fearoe. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OS 6-inch map as a circular shaped area enclosed (approx. diam. 38m) by a bank. Not marked on 1897ed. OS 25-inch map, likely that monument was levelled between the map dates. No surface remains visible. Faint trace of monument visible on the Google Earth orthoimages taken in 2020, OSi orthophotos 2005-2012 and Digital Globe orthoimages 2011-2013. • LI022-060 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In level pasture on slight E-facing slope with moderate views in all directions, 134m E of townland boundary with Fearoe, an enclosure (LI022-061----) lies 122m to NE. Present remains consist of a slightly raised circular shaped area (26m N-S; 28.2m E-W ) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 5m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.6m) from NNW through E to SSW and by a post-1700 dry stone field boundary from SSW to NNW. The interior of the site is bisected by a post-1700 field boundary running NW-SE. The interior is level and clear of overgrowth with sections of bank removed at S and W giving access. The monument is visible as a circular enclosure bisected by a field boundary on Google Earth orthoimage taken 14/02/2020. • LI022-061 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In gently undulating pasture with moderate to poor views in all directions,166m E of townland boundary with Fearoe, enclosures (LI022-060/-059----) lie 122m to SW and 200m to NW respectively. Depicted on the 1840 OS 6-inch map as a circular-shaped enclosure bisected by a public road running E-W. Present remains consists of slightly raised circular shaped area (22m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 0.5m) the interior of which is bisected by a public road (Wth 4.3m) running E-W through the site. The N half of the interior is level, lightly overgrown and strewn with rocks. The S half is undulating, strewn with small rocks and overgrown. The monument is visible overgrown with trees bisected by the road on the Google Earth orthoimages taken 14/02/2020.   Description

  In gently undulating pasture with moderate views in all directions, 10m S of townland boundary with Fearoe. Possible ringfort (LI022-160----) 122m to NW. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OS 6-inch map as a circular shaped enclosure defined by a bank. Shown on the 1897 OS 25-inch map as monument which had been modified as it was now depicted as a semi-circular shaped area defined by a scarped edge from SW to N, delimited by post-1700 field boundary from NE to SW. Present remains consist of a raised semi-circular shaped area (26m N-S) defined by a scarp (H 0.55m) visible from SW-W-N, and post 1700 field boundary from NE-E-S-SW. • LI022-160 Enclosure
  Description

  In undulating pasture, on a slight E-facing slope, immediately S of townland boundary with Fearoe. A ringfort (LI022-062----) lies 122m to SE, ringfort (LI022-059----) 168m to SW. Not depicted on the 1840 OSi 6-inch map or the 1897 OSi 25-inch map. Potential archaeological site identified from an examination of 1:10000 Bord Gáis Éireann aerial photographs during work on the Curraleigh–Limerick gas pipeline in 1986 (BGE No. 38, Site No. 022211). Visited by the ASI in 2000 and described no surface remains visible. A circular-shaped area (diam. 22m) defined by thistle growth may represent the cropmark of the potential enclosure identified on aerial photographs.
