• LI028-051 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In pasture, at base of SW-facing slope. Circular area (26.6m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank with external fosse. Bank (int. H 0.6m; ext. H 1.3m) has uniform low internal height but is highest externally along SW arc. Entrance (Wth 4m) with causeway across fosse at NE. Fosse (D 1.65m; Wth 2.4m) well defined all round. Level interior is under rough pasture which is poached by cattle. Bank and fosse covered with dense overgrowth in places. Stream flows around SW arc of ringfort, c. 8m outside fosse. • LI028-056 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In rough grazing, on gentle S-facing slope and immediately E of stream. Circular area (18.5m N-S; 19.5m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank, with external fosse (D 0.25m; Wth 1.5m) NE->SE. Bank (int. H 0.55m; ext. H 1.05m) is best preserved WNW->SE, but very eroded at S. Gap (Wth 2.1m) in bank at NE. Interior flat, poached by cattle and strewn with stones and timber. Stream skirts SW arc of enclosure, c. 3m outside bank. Dry-stone field boundary skirts outer edge of fosse at N. Ringfort (LI028-057---) 50m to SSE. • LI028-057 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In low-lying marshy ground, 12m E of stream, and surrounded by higher ground. Oval area (26m N-S; 30m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank WSW->S and defined by scarped edge (H 0.3m; Wth 1.75m) S->WSW, with external bank entirely surrounding bank and scarp and separated from them by waterlogged fosse (Wth 3.75m). Inner bank is best preserved WSW->NE (int. H 0.65m; ext. H 1.05m). Dip in bank (Wth 4.5m) at ENE. Outer bank (int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.25m) is best preserved NW->ESE and also dips slightly at ENE. Interior is flat and marshy with stands of irises. Ringfort (LI028-056---) 50m to NNW.   Description

  In pasture, on S-facing slope. Oval area (44m N-S; 50m E-W) enclosed by earth-and-stone bank (int. H 0.3m; ext. H 2.3m) best preserved NNE->SSE, but topped by field boundary SSE->NNE. Gap (Wth 6.8m) in bank at E. Interior under pasture and slopes down to S. Field boundary, indicated on 1923 OS 6-inch map immediately E of enclosure, has been removed and material from it pushed up against bank NE->SSE. • LI028-061 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In pasture, atop hill. Circular area (28m NE-SW) enclosed by two concentric earth-and-stone banks with an intervening fosse. East side of enclosure is covered by dense overgrowth. Inner bank (int. H 1.15m; ext. H 1.35m) best preserved SW->NE. Outer bank (int. H 0.4m to base of fosse; ext. H 0.75m) evident SE->NNW, but truncated by field boundary at N. Fosse (Wth 1.4m base) evident SW->NNW, and is strewn with stones. Interior under pasture; S end slopes slightly down to S. Ringfort (LI028-062---) c. 30m to NNE.   Description

  In pasture, on E-facing slope below brow of hill. Circular area (25.8m N-S; 25m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.35m; ext. H 1.8m) SSE->N and defined by scarped edge (H 0.8m; Wth 2.8m) N->SSE, with external fosse (D 0.7m; Wth 1.2m) SW->E, and low earth-and-stone counterscarp bank (int. H 0.87m; ext. H 0.2m) NW->E. Interior overgrown with trees and bushes, and slopes down to E. Field boundary runs along outer edge of fosse SW->NW. Ringfort (LI028-061---) c. 30m to SSW.   Description

  In pasture, on W-facing slope, just below brow of hill. Monument, depicted on 1841 OS 6-inch map as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m), has been levelled.
