BMX track: •The key features of the proposed track are as follows: •The BMX track consists of 4 straights, with a split 2nd straight. The proposed track running width will start at 10m and progressively narrow to 6m wide on the 3rd and 4th straights. •The proposed starting ramp for the track will be a total height of 6m above ground level, with the starter gates positioned 1m lower at 5m high. •The proposed straights will range from approximately 70m to 80m in length, with jumps generally ranging from 0.7m to 2.1m high. •The proposed track will contain of 3 turns, each typically 3m in height, with room for spectators on the top of each turn. •The surface of the straights will consist of 10-6mm crushed stone, placed above subbase material, on top of a clay based, dry and well compacted, non-organic material. •The 3 turns will consist of a layer of asphalt, placed above subbase material, on top of a clay based, dry and well compacted, non-organic material. •The edges of the track will be topsoiled and grassed, with a proposed filter drain placed between each straight. •A staging area with 10 lanes is proposed for riders to assemble. •Next to the starter ramp, a junior start ramp at 3m above ground level is proposed. •An existing soccer pitch within Jobstown Park is proposed for relocation by approximately 30m to the south west. •The proposal includes for all ancillary items. Pump Track: •The facility will include a pump track to the South East of the site. This will provide a warm up area for competent BMX riders and a training and development facility for less experienced riders. •The proposal includes for all ancillary items. Management and maintenance facilities: • Spectator areas will be included on top of each of the 3 turns. • Along the finishing straight (4th straight), a knee height rail, seating and grassed area is proposed. •Reinforced grass (using plastic porous pavers) is proposed to accommodate loading and unloading, along with 2 gates to the West of the facility. The proposed public and user entrance to the facility is on the South East corner. •Gravel footpaths are proposed within the facility for BMX riders and spectators. •Two facilities are proposed on site for club facilities, storage of maintenance equipment and for use to manage and maintain the track. •The entire BMX facility will be enclosed in 3m palisade fencing. The facility will include tree planting and additional space required will be grassed. A typical 3.5m grassed strip is proposed around the BMX track to facilitate grass cutting, routine maintenance and emergency services access (together with the 3 gates). •It is proposed to include underground infrastructure required to upgrade the facility to have the possibility of both lighting and CCTV in future. •The proposal includes for all ancillary items. Track access facilities: • An existing footpath within the park is proposed for removal and replacement with shared route outlined below. •The proposed track access will be in the South East corner of the facility. •This entrance will be linked to the existing park footpath and Fortunestown Way Road by a proposed new shared path. In addition to this new shared path, a new shared path is also proposed within the park to the North of the facility. •The proposal includes for all ancillary items. Carpark extension: •A new car park is proposed to the west of the Tallaght Leisure Centre. The size and position of these facilities are subject to detailed design. A Masterplan for the future development of Jobstown Park, Tallaght, Dublin 24. This Masterplan includes the development of a neighbourhood recreational hub providing a wide range of both active and passive recreational facilities in Jobstown Park. It is planned that these facilities can be provided on a phased basis, over the coming years. Emphasis has been given to the development of the widest possible range of outdoor sports and recreational facilities including a 4 no. All-Weather 5-a-side pitches, 400m Athletics Track, Skatepark, Childrens’ Playground, Adult Tone Zone, etc. to complement the indoor facilities, currently available in Tallaght Leisure Centre and those already in the Park. The future environmental and financial sustainability of the park proposals, together with the need to meet the specific future recreational needs of the population of Jobstown and the wider Tallaght area, have been the main guiding principles in the overall Park Design. The proposal also includes the future provision of wind turbines on the site, which can be developed in the future if deemed economically viable. Future pedestrian and cycle linkages from this central recreational hub by way of a green bridge across the Outer Ring Road extending to the Luas - Saggart and Tallaght Lines, Tallaght Town Centre/ Zip Project etc. are also provided for. Description
Formerly located on the foothills of the Dublin Mountains. An aerial photograph (FSI 2, 340/339) taken in 1971 show two conjoined, raised rectangular earthworks. This is probably the site of a castle marked on Down Survey (1655-6) and referred to in the Books of Reference as a 'castle in repair' at Jobstowne' (Simington 194, 289). The upgrade of the Butler McGee Park will consist of: • Four formal entry plazas at: – the Cheeverstown Road and Cookstown Road junction, linking with Jobstown Park. – the Cookstown Road and Maplewood Road Junction – the northeastern corner of the park, adjacent to the southern boundary of St. Mark’s GAA club, leading out on to Cookstown Road. – the Drumcairn Avenue and Drumcairn Parade junction. • Main spine routes, shared pedestrian/cycle with formal signature trees and park lights, along the eastern boundary, linking Butler McGee Park to Jobstown Park and the Luas stops, and east-west through the park connecting Drumcairn with the Fortunestown Shopping Centre. • Controlled access gates to be installed at all entrances. • Provision of CCTV. • All existing sports pitches, except for Pitch 80, retained with some realignment and refurbished where necessary with drainage and re levelling. • Provision for active recreation – e.g. Teenspace, with facilities such as skate park (with floodlighting), basketball courts and fitness area, and natural play area with large climbing feature wall. • A Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) with floodlighting. • A 35m long x 6m high ball wall, with hard paving to one side and floodlighting • Activity circuit (Park Run) – with seats and play/fitness equipment. • A dog park enclosed with post and rail fencing with wire mesh. • Relocation of a 220m length of the northeastern boundary to incorporate the grass verge to the road into the park, allowing for more room between the proposed path and the pitches. • Biodiversity improvements - existing hedgerow relocated/replaced and supplemented with meadowland management and planting of bulbs and formal and informal tree groups. • Attenuation basins and possible swales associated with the pitch drainage which will also contribute to enhanced biodiversity. • All associated landscape works. • All ancillary works. The proposal has undergone Appropriate Assessment Screening under the Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC) and screening for Environmental Impact Assessment. The Planning Authority has made a preliminary examination of the nature, size and location of the proposed development. The authority has concluded that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development and a determination has been made that an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is not required.

Description
Formerly located on the foothills of the Dublin Mountains. An aerial photograph (FSI 2, 340/339) taken in 1971 show two conjoined, raised rectangular earthworks. This is probably the site of a castle marked on Down Survey (1655-6) and referred to in the Books of Reference as a 'castle in repair' at Jobstowne' (Simington 194, 289).
