  Description

  Detached irregular-plan multiple-bay single- and two-storey former fever hospital, built 1953, with rectangular-plan seven-stage water tower to north-east corner, and two-bay single-storey porch to south-east corner. Now in use as health clinic. Flat roofs and metal rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls over smooth rendered plinth. Smooth rendered panelled walls to water tower. Square-headed window openings, having rendered reveals, concrete sills, and metal-framed and replacement uPVC windows. Bipartite window openings separated by plain pilasters to ground floor of east elevation. Vertical quadripartite strip windows, each having pivoting toplight, to ground floor east elevation of water tower. Square-headed door opening having glazed timber double doors, flanked by tiled piers, in turn flanked by timber framed picture windows having tiled risers, having cantilevered copper-clad canopy on circular-profile pilotis, to north elevation. Located to south of entrance from Ballyfermot Road.

  Description

  Freestanding single-cell church, built 1953, having six-bay nave elevation, full-width sacristy to east end, and wider narthex to west (entrance) end. Pitched slate roof with copper cladding to ridge and gables, timber corbels, triangular-profile belfry and spire on paired dormer windows to east end, copper cladding to spire and roofs of dormers. Roughcast rendered walls. Pointed headed window openings having fixed quadripartite frames to nave. Pointed headed window opening having timber framed window with cruciform glazing bars to entrance elevation. Square-headed window openings having pivoting steel windows to sacristy. Square-headed door opening having timber battened doors and canopy with hipped copper roof to west elevation. Concrete paving to west, with groups of steps leading from road. Pointed-arch trusses to interior with timber gallery to west end. Timber pews to nave. Timber cladding to lower level of walls, bearing cast stations of the cross, with grey brick to upper level of walls. Grotto to church interior. Located within grounds of Cherry Orchard Hospital to north-east of hospital.

  Description

  Detached six-bay single-storey gate lodge, built 1953, having taller block to centre, flanked by lower blocks, built to a curved plan with convex front (north) elevation and concave rear (south) elevation, with projecting porter’s lodge to front elevation, screen walls to east and west, and gates to west to Cherry Orchard Hospital. Cantilevered flat roofs, extending to gate pier to west. Roughcast rendered walls with smooth rendered plinth. Square-headed window openings, strip windows to front elevation and to porter's lodge, with timber-framed and replacement uPVC windows. Glass block window to rear elevation, having raised concrete surround. Square-headed door openings, those to front elevation having half-glazed timber sheeted door, with sidelights and overlights. Circular-plan gate piers constructed with curved concrete blocks, having steel railings on plinth walls and steel gates. Roughcast rendered screen walls to east and west, having inset post box to east wall. Located to north of Cherry Orchard Hospital and south of Ballyfermot Road.

  Group of ten detached north-facing multiple-bay single-storey former hospital wards and admissions building, built 1953, with Units 1-7 arranged in a line from west to east, and Units 9-11 located to the north, from east to west. Units 1-3, 5-7 and 9 of same plan, each comprising eleven-bay single-storey blocks with taller clerestory block to rear (south), recessed outer bay to either end, and recessed door opening to central bay. Recessed bay filled with later extension to unit 1 and unit 2. Monopitch roofs with oversailing corbelled timber eaves and metal rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls over smooth rendered plinth. Square-headed window openings, having concrete sills, steel-framed casement windows and replacement uPVC windows. Square-headed door openings having replacement uPVC double-leaf doors to principle entrances, timber panelled doors and overlights to secondary entrances. Located to south of Cherry Orchard Hospital campus.Units 4, 10 and 11 of same plan, comprising taller clerestory block to rear, nine-bay front (north) elevation, angled projecting corner bays, lower projecting three-bay entrance, and angled four-bay wings extending to south-east and south-west. Monopitch roofs with oversailing corbelled timber eaves and metal rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls over smooth rendered plinth. Square-headed window openings having concrete sills, steel-framed casement windows and replacement uPVC windows. Strip windows to front elevation. Square-headed recessed door opening to centre of front elevation with half-glazed timber panelled door, plain sidelights and overlights, and tiled reveals. Canted entrance bay to north-east and north-west corners, having recessed square-headed glazed timber double-leaf doors with plain overlight, and rendered reveals, flanked by sidelights with render reveals and sills. Located to south-east of Cherry Orchard Hospital. Cruciform-plan former admissions building, having pitched roof with oversailing eaves and metal rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls over smooth rendered plinth. Square-headed window openings having concrete sills, steel-framed casement windows and replacement uPVC windows. Strip windows to front (north) elevation. Square-headed door openings to north and south elevations of projections, having tiled surrounds, square-headed timber panelled door, plain overlight and flat-roofed cantilevered canopy between door and overlight. Located to south-east of Cherry Orchard Hospital.

  Description

  Detached L-plan four-bay single-storey mortuary, built 1953. Pitched sheeted roofs with oversailing corbelled timber eaves and metal rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls with smooth rendered plinth. Square-headed window openings having rendered reveals and concrete sills. Circular window to projecting bay of front (east) elevation, having cruciform metal tracery. Steel-framed and replacement uPVC windows. Square-headed door openings to re-entrant corner of front elevation, one double-leaf timber panelled door and one single-leaf timber panelled door, both with opaque overlights and rendered reveals. Located within grounds of Cherry Orchard Hospital, to east of main hospital building.
