Description
In undulating farmland, c. 200m NNW of a stream. Poorly preserved subcircular rath (32.5m NE-SW; 24.5m NW-SE) defined by a stone-faced earthen bank. The monument is cut by a field wall at WNW and ESE, and a field fence at S. A water tank has been erected in SE quadrant of the interior. - GA098-020 Ringfort - rath
Description
In undulating marshy grassland. Very poorly preserved circular rath (diam. 29.7m) defined by an inner scarp, intervening fosse and outer bank. Traces of the outer bank survive from NW through N to NE. The inner scarp has been extensively quarried from NW through N to SE. A trackway cuts through the enclosing elements at NE and SE. Description
Within the W half of the interior of a rath (GA098-020----). This children's burial ground is defined by a very poorly preserved L-shaped unenclosed area within which numerous set stones indicate graves aligned E-W. A circular depression in the centre of the rath is probably the result of quarrying and it has encroached upon the burial ground at E. - GA098-022 Ritual site - holy well
Description
On a ridge in grassland. This very poorly preserved dried-up spring well is dedicated to St. Grellan. It comprises an unroofed subrectangular drystone well chamber (1.65m NE-SW; 1.1m NE-SW), which is built into the townland boundary wall. The entrance is to the W. According to local tradition, the water of the well was used as a general cure for all ailments (O'Flanagan 1927, Vol. 1, 484).
