Description
On N-facing slope of a hill in grassland. Poorly preserved subcircular rath (E-W 29.5m) defined by a degraded scarp, intervening fosse and outer bank best preserved at SW. There are two small quarries at N and S. A field boundary cuts the monument at NNE. Description
On W-facing slope of Peak Hill. A well-preserved subcircular rath (NE-SW 33m), known locally as 'Crossroad Fort' (Neary 1914, 118, no. 40), defined by two stone-faced banks and an intervening fosse. A gap (Wth 4m) at NE may be original. Neary (ibid.) noted the existence of a third bank of which no visible surface trace survives. There is probable souterrain (GA005-011001-) in the interior. Description
In a ringfort (GA005-011----). Neary (1914, 118, no. 40) records that 'the garth [of this ringfort] contains a souterrain'. All that survives is an irregular hollow (L 6m, Wth 3m), in S half of the interior, which is flanked by two small heaps of stone. It is aligned on a N-S axis and is 0.4m in depth. Description
In a low-lying area of grassland in the grounds of Ballintava House. Known locally as 'Demesne Fort' (Neary 1914, 118, no. 38), this poorly preserved subcircular rath (N-S 40m, E-W 36m) is defined by a scarp, intervening fosse and outer bank. Possible entrance at SE. Description
On a gentle slope in grassland. Poorly preserved circular rath (D 34m) defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. A scarp forms the inner enclosing element from NNW to E. The outer bank is revetted with large limestone boulders set on edge and the td. boundary overlies it from S to W. Well-defined entrance at E. Description
On W-facing slope of a low hill in the grounds of Ballintava House. Poorly preserved originally circular rath (D 35m) defined by a bank and external fosse from SE through S to SW, outside of which are traces of a possible outer bank overlain by a field wall. Another field wall cuts the monument at E and W and no visible surface trace survives to N of it. There is a CBG (GA005-016001-) immediately to E. A ringfort (GA005-012----) lies c. 170m to SW. Immediately E of a ringfort (GA005-016----). According to local information, there is a CBG here within a densely overgrown hollow enclosed by an earthen bank. No grave-markers are visible.
