- GA027-045 Fulacht fia
Description
In a wet area at the base of a rocky SW-facing slope. This well-preserved fulacht fia is defined by a crescent-shaped mound (18.1m NE-SW; 14m NW-SE) that opens to the NW (Wth 6m). The trough area (7m NW-SE; 3.5m NE-SW) has a flat poorly drained base. The mound is truncated by a NW-SE running trackway to the SW and it blends into the base of the natural slope to the NE. Indications of a second fulacht fia (GA027-045001-) abut the rear of it to the SE. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 15 August 2023
- GA027-045001 Fulacht fia
Description
Abutting another fulacht fia (GA027-045----) to the SW. The rear of the fulacht fia (GA027-045----) is very wide (max. Wth 7m; ext. H 0.8m) and a possible truncated arm abutting it at SW may indicate the presence of a second fulacht fia. The stump of the possible arm may have been truncated by the NW-SE running trackway to its SW and the opposing arm may have been removed when the drystone well was constructed to the SE. The well is located where the second trough would be expected to be. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 15 August 2023
