Description
Situated on a rise in an undulating landscape. This is a raised subcircular grass and scrub-covered area (dims 26.5m NNW-SSE; 22m NE-SW) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth of base 5.5-6m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 1.6-1.8m) which is incorporated into a field bank W-N, but there is no visible fosse. There are gaps at S and W and a wide one (Wth 7m) at N, but the original entrance (Wth of base 1.9m) is at ENE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). Description
Located on a rise which is on a gentle NE-facing slope. This is a circular grass-covered and domed (H 1m) area (diam. 40m E-W; 39m N-S) defined by a slight earthen bank (at S: Wth of base 6m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.4m) that is reduced to a scarp (at N: H 1m) W-NE, with an outer fosse visible as a berm (at N: Wth 4m) defined by a scarp (at N: Wth 4m; H 1m) W-NE, but a NW-SE field bank truncates the berm at NE. The original entrance is not identified. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). Description
Situated on a gentle S-facing slope. It is described as a ‘Moat’ in gothic lettering on the OS 6-inch maps. This is a raised subcircular and grass-covered area (dims 31m NNW-SSE; 27m NE-SW) defined by a scarp (at NNW: Wth 6m; H 2m; at SSE: Wth 4.5m; H 2.5m). There are two grass-covered quarries inside the perimeter at NW and another at the centre. There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance. Description
Situated just NW of a low ridge in an undulating landscape. This a circular grass-covered area (diam. 30m N-S; 29m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base 3-5m; int. H 0.4-0.8m; ext. H 1.7m at N to 2.3m at S) with some bushes and an outer fosse (Wth of top 4.5-6.5m; Wth of base 3m at S; ext. D 0.3-0.5m), with the remains of an outer bank (at S: Wth of base 4m; ext. H 0.4m) E-SW. The original entrance (Wth of base 1.8m) and causeway (Wth of top 4.4m; H 0.9m) are at ENE. The interior had become overgrown by 2000 (OSAP).
