- GA098-003 Ringfort - rath
Description
On a rise in undulating grassland. Marked on the 1933 edition of the OS 6-inch map as a subcircular enclosure overlain by a field boundary from NW through E to SE. The monument has been ploughed out but on inspection in April 1985 a band of lighter soil indicated its outline (33.5m N-S; 27m E-W). It is also visible on the OSi digitalglobe aerial photograph. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 8 February 2019
- GA098-004 Ringfort - rath
Description
In level grassland. Poorly preserved subcircular rath (37.8m NNW-SSE; 34m NE-SW) defined by a bank from NNW through E to SW, and by an external fosse from SE through S to NW. No visible surface trace survives elsewhere. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 12 October 2016
- GA098-005 Enclosure
Description
In undulating grassland. Marked on the 1838 edition of the OS 6-inch map as a small roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 20m). A single fir tree is depicted in the interior. On the OS 1:2500 plan (surveyed 1912-16) only a hachured line curving from SW to NW is shown. Aerial imagery (Google 2019) indicates that it has been levelled. Possible an enclosure or a landscape feature. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 17 July 2019
- GA098-006 Quarry
Description
A hachured feature marked on the 1933 edition of the OS 6-inch map proved on inspection in 1985 to be a disused sand and gravel pit. As it is of post-AD 1700 date it does not come within the remit of the Archaeological Survey of Ireland. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 8 August 2014
