  Description

  In flat farmland within the former demesne of Clonbern Park. Probably the site of the medieval parish church which, according to Knox (1903, 293), was called 'Kilbrenan'. The remains comprise a very poorly preserved rectangular church (E-W; L >6.3m, Wth c. 6.4). Only the ivy-covered E gable (H 2m) survives to any height along with short grassed-over lengths of N and S side-walls. The subrectangular graveyard also contains a large early 19th-C rectangular vault (L 6m, Wth 4m) dedicated to the Egan family and a remarkable circular metal mausoleum dedicated to the Browne family. Two holy wells (GA031-017----, GA031-018----) may be associated.   Description

  Within the demesne of Clonbern Park, close to td. boundary. This well consists of an unenclosed natural spring under a hawthorn tree. Some moss-covered stones lie scattered around. Architectural heritage

• Clonbern Park, outbuilding, 1830–1850 · Regional interest
  Description

  U-plan yard of farm buildings, built c.1840, having multiple-bay two-storey stable block. Remains of pitched slate roof with limestone eaves course and coursed rubble limestone walls. Rear wall, which faces public road, has only ventilation slits. Yard elevation has square-headed window openings to first and ground floors, and segmental-arch vehicular arches to ground floor with dressed voussoirs. Entrance archway to yard has oculus above with raised surround, set within square frame.

• Mausoleum, 1850–1880 · National interest
  Description

  Freestanding round-plan mausoleum, erected c.1865, to Colonel Dennis. Constructed of smooth cast-iron panels, with moulded plinth. Frieze with moulded string course to base and having Ionic cornice with dentals below and blocking course above. Roof supports cylindrical pedestal on which stood funereal urn now lying on ground. Square-headed doorway having architraved doorcase with scroll brackets supporting cornice over which is Dennis coat of arms. Name and dates of Colonel Dennis, applied to iron door now fallen away or removed. Mausoleum set on round-plan iron platform surrounded by cast-iron railing now damaged. Stands in graveyard of Clonbern church ruin.

• Mausoleum, 1860–1865 · Regional interest
  Description

  Freestanding rectangular-plan mausoleum, dated 1861. Roof now collapsed and tree growing within. Walls of rubble limestone, with squared quoins and string course below top of walls. Round-headed entrance doorway to south-east, having block and start dressings and which may date to c.1750, having inscribed round-headed plaque with rustic lettering and date of 1861. Limestone steps and threshold to doorway.
