Description
On a N-facing slope in grassland. Known locally as 'Lisheen', this poorly preserved oval rath (N-S 42m, E-W 29.6m) is defined by two banks and an intervening fosse from W through N to E. A field wall cuts the monument at E and W, to S of which a scarp forms the enclosing element. According to local information, there was a CBG (GA057-050001-) within the interior. Just outside the rath to W, a number of hollows are visible; possibly from the result of quarrying The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Description
On W slope of a low hill. A very poorly preserved roughly circular enclosure (D 72m) defined by a wide grass-covered spread of rubble within which foundation stones occur intermittently. It is overlain from E through S to W by a modern field wall. There are wide modern gaps at NW and SW. Description
On a low rise in grassland. Poorly preserved circular cashel (D 37m) defined by a collapsed grassed-over drystone wall. Stone-lined entrances at NE and ESE appear to be original. There is a souterrain (GA057-058001-) within the interior and a series of grass-covered stones: possibly foundation stones, however, no coherent pattern is discernible The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'.
