- GA030-055 Ringfort - rath
Description
On a rise in otherwise level reclaimed grassland. Marked on OS 6-inch maps as a circular enclosure (D c. 45m). Neary (1914, 115, no. 103) described it as a 'circular earthen for' enclosed by two banks and a fosse; know locally as 'Dunblayney Fort'. Apart from a faint rise, no visible surface trace survives. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010

Description
On the summit of a hillock in undulating grassland. Poorly preserved subcircular rath (E-W 33m, N-S 31m) defined by a degraded bank visible intermittently from E to S and from W to NW; elsewhere a scarp forms the enclosing element. A ringfort (GA030-059----) lies c. 180m to NW. (Neary 1914, 115, no. 103) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010

Description
On a rise in grassland on E side of Lough Agar, a dried-up lake. Known locally as 'Lake Fort' (Neary 1914, 115, no. 192), this well-preserved subcircular rath (E-W 40m, N-S 38.5m) is defined by two earthen banks revetted with stone and an intervening fosse. There is a well-defined entrance at SSE and a souterrain (GA030-057001-) in the interior. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
- GA030-057001 Souterrain
Description
In S half of a ringfort (GA030-057----). Neary (1914, 115, no. 102) records that 'the garth ... contains souterrain'. What is visible is an Z-shaped flat-bottomed hollow (L 19.6m, Wth 2.2m) up to 0.7m in depth. Beginning just S of centre, it runs S (L 5m) and then turns sharply to E to take up an E-W axis (L 7m). It then turns sharply to S again, continuing on a N-S axis (L 7.6m). Traces of drystone-walling are visible intermittently along its course and a number of collapsed roof lintels. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010

(Neary 1914, 115, no. 104) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'.
