Description
On a rise in undulating pastureland. This subcircular cashel (38.9m N-S; 37m E-W), in fair condition, is defined by a collapsed drystone wall except at S where no visible surface trace survives due to field clearance. Possible house sites (GA104-170003-, GA104-170004- and GA104-170005- are visible in the NW quadrant and E half of the interior, and there is a souterrain (GA104-170002-) in the SW quadrant. A pile of field-clearance rubble is visible in the centre of the the N half. Another cashel (GA104-167----) lies c. 100m to the W. Description
Within the SW quadrant of a cashel (GA104-170001-). This partially destroyed souterrain (L >14.8m) is indicated by an overgrown and rubble-strewn L-shaped passage. The long axis (L 9.7m) runs WNW-ESE and the short axis (L 5.1m) extends off its NE end and runs NE-SW. At NE it disappears under a mound of rubble. The passage varies in width from 1.3m to 3.9m. Description
Detached multiple-bay single-storey vernacular house with attic storey, built c.1910, with flat-roofed extension to front and side (west) elevation. Pitched thatched roof with raised ridge, red brick chimneystack and render copings. Rendered walls. Original window openings to front elevation not visible, square-headed openings with timber casement windows and uPVC windows to extension, one one-over-one pane timber sliding sash window to rear elevation. Square-headed door opening with glazed timber door. Set within own grounds by roadside.
