Description
Roadside, adjacent to Butlerstown river on estate of Riverstown House (CO064-051---). Front (L 3.12m) E-facing; blocked stone-arched recess (H 2m) spanning full width of wall; small rectangular ope at base leads into funnel. Projecting end walls. Stone-lined funnel (diam. 4.66m), barrel-shaped in section. Ramp on S side. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
