Description
In pasture on SSW-facing slope, overlooking Owenacurra river c. 130m to SW.Circular area (36m N-S; 36m E-W) enclosed by overgrown stone dump-construction bank (H 1.6m); fosse (max. D 1.2m) N->SSE. Gap in bank,with probable causeway, S->SSW. Interior slopes gently to SW; overgrown with ferns. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. In pasture, on E-facing slope. Depicted as circular area (diam. c. 30m) enclosed by dotted line on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; no visible surface trace. Holy well (CO054-104---) c. 150m to E. Front S-facing does not stand to full height (min. H 3m); wide arched recess (H 2m; Wth 3.8m; D 2.5m), stoking-hole evident. Sides of kiln collapsed forming mound (H 2m). Ramp to rear.
