Description
Detached single-storey former gate lodge, built 1954, now in use as ambulance station. Flat roof with oversailing timber eaves. Roughcast rendered walls with smooth rendered plinth. Square-headed window openings with steel fixed and casement windows, arranged in three sets of three across full width of front (south) elevation, and to south ends of east and west elevations. Square-headed half-glazed steel door to west elevation. Stone clad boundary walls with rendered copings and metal railings and gates to site entrance.

Description
Detached irregular-plan twenty-one-bay four-storey hospital over basement, built 1954. Comprising central rectangular-plan five-bay four-storey main block, terminated with projecting bays, and in turn flanked by seven-bay four-storey blocks. Two single-bay four-storey higher projecting blocks to rear (north) elevation with flanking blocks having projecting four-bay four-storey blocks. Multiple-bay single-storey blocks run north perpendicular to main building from towers to rear with multiple-bay single-storey chapel to west block. Flat roofs with cast-iron rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls with render cross to chapel wall. Concrete balconies having steel parapet railings. Square-headed window openings with concrete sills and steel casement and swivelling windows and some replacement uPVC windows. Leaded window to chapel. Square-headed openings with half-glazed steel doors to balconies, some replaced with uPVC doors. Timber battened door to basement entrance and uPVC doors to main entrance. Square-headed opening to west elevation of western single-storey block having glazed steel door flanked by two pairs of bipartite fixed timber windows, all with overlights.

Group of five detached irregular-plan multiple-bay single-storey hospital wards, built 1954. Units 1, 2 and 3 south-facing, units 4 and 5 north-facing. Wards comprising rectangular-plan blocks with full-length verandahs to front elevations and full-length lower blocks to rear elevations, with recessed bays to east end (west end of units 4 and 5), and south-facing verandah to west end of lower block wrapping around west end (east end of units 4 and 5) of higher block. Flat roofs with oversailing timber eaves, rendered chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls. Rendered plinth walls with pilotis with vertically divided steel-framed overlights to south elevations of verandahs and steel-framed glazed end walls to verandahs, with half-glazed steel double doors to west ends (east end of units 4 and 5). Square-headed openings to front elevations with steel casement windows flanking half-glazed steel double doors, with swivelling overlights over whole. Replacement uPVC windows and doors to units 1 and 2. Square-headed windows to north elevations of taller blocks, and square-headed openings with concrete sills to rear elevations, some with steel casement and swivelling windows, some with replacement uPVC windows. Square-headed openings with replacement uPVC windows and doors to entrance elevations.

Detached L-plan multiple-bay single-storey hospital ward, built 1954, with projecting bow south-east corner of front block, verandah to front (south) elevation and to bow with cantilevered roof, and multiple-bay lower block to rear with canopied entrance bay with glazed supporting walls. Flat roofs with rendered chimneystack and cast-iron rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls and pilotis on rendered plinth wall to veranda. Square-headed openings to front elevation and bow with vertically divided steel fixed windows with swivelling overlights. Square-headed openings to front and east elevations with glazed steel double doors and swivelling overlights. Entrance to rear formed by square-headed opening with glazed timber double doors flanked by fixed steel windows. Square-headed openings with steel fixed, casement, swivelling and pivoting windows to rear elevation and west elevations.

Roughcast rendered walls. Square-profile metal vent pipes to rear. Rendered walls. Square-headed opening with strip window having steel-framed swivelling and fixed windows with continuous concrete sill. Square-headed door openings with accordion folding steel double doors. Single-bay single-storey building to north having flat roof with oversailing eaves, roughcast rendered walls, concrete pilotis to front (west) elevation, full-width tripartite steel-framed windows with overlights to front elevation, steel-framed windows with overlights to west end of north and south elevations, and half-glazed steel door to south elevation. Multiple-bay single-storey building to west having flat roof with oversailing eaves, cast-iron rainwater goods, rendered walls, and square-headed openings with steel-framed windows and timber battened doors. Rectangular-plan weighbridge to site having cast-iron frame and plate with maker's marks in relief to frame, with concrete kerbs to east and west sides.

Open flat-roofed entrance canopy to extension and flat-roofed glazed entrance porch to tower. Two-storey over basement wing to rear (north) elevation of tower and rear of front block, single-storey flat-roofed entrance porch to west end of front block, with single-storey wing to rear of west end of front block. Flat roofs with cast-iron rainwater goods and rendered chimneystacks. Roughcast rendered walls with smooth rendered plinth. Square-headed openings with steel casement and pivoting windows and glazed steel double leaf doors with overlights to front elevation, with glazed timber double leaf doors with sidelights and overlights within. Glazed steel door with sidelights to porch to west. Full-width open-ended courtyard formed by multiple-bay single-storey outbuildings to rear. Outbuildings with flat roofs, cast-iron rainwater goods, rendered walls, and square-headed openings with steel fittings.
