Description
In level pasture. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1842, 1904 and 1937 OS 6-inch maps, truncated on E side by roadway; lime kiln on S bank on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; circular area (diam. 32m) defined by scarp to S and NNE (H 0.25m) and by differential growth pattern showing line of levelled bank to W and N. Bank and external fosse visible as cropmark in aerial photograph (GSIAP, W402), with road to E truncating fosse. Description
In pasture, on break in gentle S-facing slope, E of avenue to Ardnageeha House. Circular area (30m N-S) enclosed by worn, heavily overgrown, earthen bank (int. H 0.45m; ext. H 0.8m). Entrance (Wth 3m) to N; numerous cattle gaps in bank. Interior covered in long grass, briars and nettles; souterrain (CO030-08002-) in SE quadrant. Description
In pasture, on gentle S-facing slope. Circular area (42m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1.1m; ext. H 1m); shallow external fosse (max. D 0.5m). Break (Wth 2m) in bank to SW; cattle gap to WNW. Interior raised slightly on S side to compensate for hillslope. According to Bowman (1934, 287), field known as 'Pairc a Leasa - Fort Field'. Description
Detached T-plan two-storey house, built 1837, facing south, comprising two three-bay blocks, having two-bay lean-to porch to angle, canted-bay window to south gable, and single-bay single-storey lean-to extension to rear. Pitched slate roof having rendered chimneystacks, timber bargeboards and curved and moulded brick eaves to house and to bay window. Painted rendered walls with decorative cast-iron vents to rendered plinth. Square-headed window openings having one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows and painted limestone sills. Two-over-two pane window to extension. Porch has corrugated-plastic roof and rendered brick pilasters to windows having stepped capitals and round-headed replacement timber door with fanlight and approached by limestone step, with clay tiles to interior of porch. Outbuilding to rear with pitched artificial slate roof, coursed stone walls and square-headed boarded timber to two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows. Wrought-iron pedestrian gate to east of house. Detached three-bay single-storey gate lodge to west with dormer attic, pitched slate roof, rendered chimneystacks and timber bargeboards with timber brackets, rendered coursed sandstone rubble walls with square-headed window openings having curved brick sills and one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows, doubled to façade, with replacement timber casement loft window, and square-headed timber battened door and metal door with overlight. Coursed rubble stone boundary walls having post box, inserted c. 1940, terminating in square-plan coursed rubble walls with wrought-iron double-leaf gates. Curved entrance gateway to house having painted rendered walls terminating in square-plan piers, wrought-iron pedestrian gate with curved walk and double-leaf wrought-iron gates to inner piers.
