Description
Located on a slight E-facing slope down to Lady’s Island Lough. The cropmarks of rectangular fields (dims c. 50m x c. 50m) covering an area of c. 60 acres (c. 24 ha) are visible on aerial photographs (CUCAP, ASZ 35, BDI 95, BDI 97; ASIAP, WX (105) 26-30). The fields are partially visible on the OSI series of aerial photographs (2000) and form strips running E-W. The ring-ditch (WX053-010003-) and rath site (WX053-010002-) are within the fields but not necessarily connected with them. No features are visible at ground level in root crops. Description
Situated towards the N end of a slight N-S rise. The cropmark of a circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) defined by a single fosse feature is visible on aerial photographs (ASIAP, WX 105, 27-29). The field system (WX053-010----) is in the same area, but not connected with the enclosure. Description
Situated on a slight N-S rise. The cropmark of a small circular enclosure (diam. c. 5m) defined by a continuous fosse feature is visible on aerial photographs (MM (6) 21-3; ASIAP (5) 0). It is within the field system (WX053-010----) but not connected with any element of it. Description
Situated on a slight NE-SW rise between the W shore of Lady’s Island Lough and a small inlet of the lake at W. The cropmarks of small fields (dims c. 50m x c. 50m) defined by single ditch features are visible on aerial photographs (MM (44) 16-21) covering an area of c. 15 acres (c. 6 ha). The fields are a continuation of the fields (WX053-010----) extending off to the N but the enclosure sites (WX053-086002-; WX053-086003-) appear to be incorporated into the fields. Description
Situated on a slight NE-SW rise between the W shore of Lady’s Island Lough and a small inlet of the lake at W. The cropmark of a circular enclosure defined by a single faint ditch feature is visible on aerial photographs (MM (44) 19-21). Description
Situated on a slight NE-SW rise between the W shore of Lady’s Island Lough and a small inlet of the lake at W. The cropmark of a D-shaped enclosure (dims c. 30m N-S; c. 15m E-W) defined by a single ditch feature S-W-N is visible on aerial photographs (MM (44) 19-21). It is truncated by a NNW-SSE field bank at E and is not visible on the E side of this feature. The cropmark of a wide drain extends W from the perimeter towards the edge of the inlet of Lady’s Island Lake, which is c. 100m distant. Rath (WX053-086002-) is c. 140m to the S.
