Description
Oxmantown Watch House (North King Street) Watch House depicted standing at the junction between Oxmantown (now North King Street) and Church Street. Annotated ‘Watch House’ on Rocque’s 1756 map of the Dublin City, where it is shown as a circular structure with rectangular block running off the western side standing at the eastern end of North King Street. Description
Situated on a hillock in the valley of a meandering NE-SW section of the Mattock River which is c. 100m to the SE at the closest point. The cropmark of a circular enclosure (int. diam. c. 20m) defined by a single fosse (Wth c. 2m) with an entrance (Wth c. 4m) at ESE is visible only on Apple Maps, which utilises a survey conducted by Bluesky International during June 2018. Description
Situated on a hillock in the valley of a meandering NE-SW section of the Mattock River which is c. 85m to the SE at the closest point. The cropmark of an oval enclosure (dims c. 12m E-W; c. 9m N-S) defined by a single fosse feature with a possible entrance (Wth c. 2m) at SE is visible only on Apple Maps, which utilises a survey conducted by Bluesky International during June 2018.
