- MO027-050 Ringfort - rath
Description
Located towards the top of the NW-facing slope of the spine of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 27.5m N-S; c. 26m E-W) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth 5.6-6.2m; int. H 0.5-0.7m; ext. H 2.6-3m) separated by a flat-bottomed fosse re-cut as a drain (Wth of base 1-1.4m) in places from an outer overgrown bank (Wth of base 4.2-4.5m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1.3-1.5m) with the remains on an outer stone facing as it was all utilised as a field bank. There is an entrance through the inner bank (Wth of base 2.3m) and a stone-lined causeway (Wth of top 1.7m; H 1.15m) at SE, but there is no gap through the outer bank. A sunken area (L 6m; Wth 2.4m; D 0.6m) extends SE from a break in the bank at NW with a spur (L 6.5m; Wth 2m; D 0.5m) extending N from a point close to its SE end. This is probably a collapsed souterrain, although no stone is present. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Revised by: Michael Moore Date of revision: 30 January 2018

- MO027-051 Ringfort - rath
Description
Located towards the top of the SE-facing slope of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. A circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 40m) is depicted here on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic lettering as a ‘fort’. A curving field bank NE-S (Chord c. 25m) and hedge survive which respect the enclosure or incorporate part of the original bank of what is known locally as a ‘fort’. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Revised by: Michael Moore Date of revision: 31 January 2018
- MO027-112 Kiln - lime
Description
Located on the NE-facing slope of a hill and incorporated in a field boundary. It is depicted as a rectangular structure at the E end of a short lane leading W to a cottage on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map. The cottage is c. 40m to the SW but is now derelict. The lime-kiln was discovered during drainage and reclamation work in 1985. This is a drystone-built structure of which two walls (L of both walls c. 2.2m; H c. 1.2m) and the remains of what appears to be a corbelled roof survive. It is overgrown with nettles and brambles and a large amount of collapsed stone is on the floor. Compiled by: Claire Breen Date of upload: 14 April 2011
