• MO010-006 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Located towards the bottom of the S-facing spine of a NNW-SSE drumlin ridge. It is depicted as a small embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 25m) just SW of some houses and described in gothic lettering as a ‘fort’ only on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map. There is no visible evidence of an antiquity just SW of an abandoned farmyard. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
