• MO029-012 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Located towards the bottom of the NW-facings spine of a NW-SE drumlin ridge, overlooking a NW-SE section of the Farne River, which is c. 150m to the SW. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. c. 32m NW-SE) that slopes down steeply to the SW. It is defined by an earthen ban k (at SE: Wth of base 2.4m; int. H 0.45m; ext. H 0.85m) ENE-SSW and a slight scarp elsewhere. There is no visible fosse or entrance, but there is a triangular enclosure (ext. dims 10m N-S; 8m E-W) defined by a moss-covered stone spread (at W: Wth 1.4m; int. H 0.25m; ext. H 0.9m) abutting the inside of the bank at E, which is probably the remnants of a field system. • MO029-013 Cupmarked stone
  Description

  A roughly triangular stone with two cupmarks had been built into the wall of a lane at Miskish More, which was moved to the National Museum of Ireland for safety in 1949. It is described as having a triangular surface ’35 inches along the base and 29.9 inches from base to apex. The stone is ‘18.5 inches thick (dims c. 0.9m x c. 0.75m x c. 0.47m)’ (Raftery 1953) and had two cupmarks on its large surface. One (diam. c. 4cm; D c. 2.5cm) was unadorned but the other (diam. c. 2.5cm; D c. 2.5cm) had seven concentric circles (ext. diam. c. 0.4m).
