Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Sub-circular area (int. dims. 24m E-W, 21m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank on W (Wth 4m; H 0.5m internally, 1.7m externally), and on E by bank obscured by modern field walls.

Description
Situated on SSW slope of the Black Mountain. Roughly oval in plan with two sub-rectangular chambers, one on the NE side and the second on the SW side. Each chamber has a low narrow lintelled entrance on the SE. Both have earthen floors, with some small stones remaining on the floor of the NE chamber, suggesting that the floors may have originally been paved. Description
Detached two-bay single-storey former gate lodge, built c. 1850, now in private domestic use. Central gable-fronted porch to east elevation. Pitched slate roof, clay ridge tiles, painted smooth rendered chimneystack, overhanging eaves, painted timber soffit, paired painted timber eaves brackets, painted timber bargeboards to porch, cast-iron rainwater goods. Lime-washed roughcast-rendered walling. Square-headed window opening, painted stone sills, painted timber tripartite one-over-one sliding sash windows, two-over-two sliding sash windows to west elevation. Square-headed door opening set within segmental-headed blind arch, painted stone hood-moulding, painted timber and glazed panelled door c. 1950. House set back slightly from road, cast-iron railings and gate to north and south, front site bounded by hedge to east, accessed through smooth rendered piers, opposite entrance to Anaverna House.

Description
Three ranges of multiple-bay two-storey stone former stable complex, built c. 1790, now in private domestic and commercial use. U-plan surrounding cobbled yard, single-storey lean-to c. 1850 and glass conservatory to west, stone steps to first floor south within yard, bellcote to south. Hipped slate roofs, clay ridge tiles, brick corbelled chimneystacks, cast-iron rainwater goods. Random rubble stone walling, red brick block-and-start quoins to bellcote. Square-headed window openings, some red brick flat-arches, stone sills, painted timber six-over-six timber sliding sash windows, three-over-three to first floor, multiple-pane casement windows to west elevation. Round-headed door openings, red brick arches, painted timber vertically-sheeted doors, timber-spoked fanlights; pair of segmental-headed carriage arched to internal north elevation, red brick surrounds. Situated to north-east of Anaverna House, cobbled yard accessed through square-profiled gate piers and wrought-iron gates.

Detached five-bay two-storey with attic house, built c. 1790. Returns and extensions to north c. 1840, three-bay breakfront and timber porch to south elevation. Hipped slate roof, clay ridge tiles, slated chimneystacks, chamfered stone capping, projecting eaves, moulded cast-iron gutters on corbelled eaves, circular cast-iron downpipes. Painted roughcast rendered walling, stone plinth course, continuous stone sill course to first floor windows of breakfront, carved stone coping to parapet of breakfront. Square-headed window openings, granite sills, painted timber six-over-six sliding sash windows; painted timber fretted canopy to ground floor windows, south elevation; recessed painted smooth rendered surround to ground floor windows of breakfront, recessed round-headed surround to first floor windows of breakfront; three-over-three sliding sash windows to attic, north elevation, tripartite sliding sash window to east elevation, round-headed stairwell window opening to north elevation. Flat-roofed painted timber entrance porch surmounted by decorative glazed fanlight, carved stone surround; porch comprising Wyatt window to south, pilasters supporting fluted frieze, rosette panels and cornice, painted timber and glazed double doors to west; stone surround to internal painted timber door with four panels; round-headed door opening to west, painted timber and glazed double doors surmounted by stained glass fanlight; square-headed door opening to north extension, painted timber door with glazed panels. House set in own extensive grounds, random rubble boundary wall to west, ashlar stone piers and wrought-iron gates giving access to site.

Square-headed window openings, painted stone sills, painted smooth rendered reveals, painted timber tripartite windows to east elevation comprising central six-over-six sliding sash flanked by two-over-two sidelights; four-over-four sliding sash to north elevation of lean-to return. Square-headed door opening, painted smooth rendered reveals, painted timber vertically-sheeted door. Remains of brick and stone plinth wall surmounted by cast-iron railings to south, ashlar gate piers to north and south flanking wrought-iron gates. House set back slightly from road opposite entrance gates to Anaverna House.
