• MO019-024 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Located at the summit of and towards the SE end of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. This is a subcircular grass-covered area (dims 29m NW-SE; 24.5m NE-SW) defined by an earthen bank incorporated into a field bank and hedge SE-S-NW and by a slight scarp (at N: Wth 4m; H 0.55m) elsewhere. There is no visible fosse or entrance. Inside the perimeter at NW a N-S depression (L 8m; Wth 3.4m; D 0.8m) with an E-W depression (dims 8.9m E-W; 3m N-S; D 0.6m) across its S end could represent a collapsed souterrain although no stone is present The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).   Description

  Located at the summit of and towards the SE end of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. Inside the perimeter of rath (MO019-023----) at NW a N-S depression (L 8m; Wth 3.4m; D 0.8m) with an E-W depression (dims 8.9m E-W; 3m N-S; D 0.6m) across its S end could represent a collapsed souterrain although no stone is present. • MO019-025 Megalithic tomb - wedge tomb
  Description

  Situated on the E-facing spine of an E-W drumlin ridge. From a plan by H. G. Tempest made in 1936 (SMR file) this appears to be a wedge-tomb consisting of gallery aligned NE-SW, flanked by two buttresses and a single outer walling stone on the NW side. The gallery (L 3m; Wth 0.7m) has a short portico at SW. Two displaced roof stones lie across the gallery. The structure is incorporated in a mound (L 11m; Wth 5m). It is listed as a wedge tomb (de Valera and Ó Nualláin 1982, 131). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
