  Description

  Situated on a rise in a broad ENE-WSW valley. It is not depicted on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map where this area is depicted as an acre of woodland or scrub, but it is represented as a hachured feature on the 1907 edition. This is an oval, grass-covered and domed area (dims 41.5m NW-SE; 31m NE-SW) defined by a scarp (at S: H 1.8m). There is a tree at the centre and the stumps of others were visible in 1968.   Description

  Situated at the crest of the N-facing slope of an ENE-WSW drumlin ridge. It is depicted as an oval wooded feature described as a ‘fort’ on the 1834 and as an oval field on the 1907 editions of the OS 6-inch map. It was described in 1968 as an oval grass-covered area (dims 64.5m NE-SW; 38.5m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank (Wth c. 3m; H c. 1-1.5m) and hedge with entrance gaps at NE (Wth of base 1.6m) and WSW (Wth of base 1.6m), but there was no visible fosse. It had been removed by 1995 (OSAP). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).   Description

  Situated on the spine of the NE-facing slope of an ENE-WSW drumlin ridge. It is depicted as an oval wooded feature (dims c. 45m NNE-SSW; c. 25m WNW-ESE) described as a fort on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map and as an oval field on the 1907 edition. It was described in 1968 as an oval overgrown area (dims c. 40m N-S; 26m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (at E: Wth of base 3.7m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 1.5m) with traces of an outer stone facing, and an outer fosse (at E: Wth 3m; ext. D 0.15m). There was an entrance (Wth of base 0.9m) at NE. It had been removed by 1995 (OSAP).
