• MO028-024 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Located towards the bottom of a SE-facing slope. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 36m E-W; 32.6m NNE-SSW) with some rock outcrop defined by a grass-covered stone spread over an earthen bank (at SSW: Wth 2.6m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 1m) which has an external stone facing and is frequently reduced to an external stone-faced scarp (at NNE: H 1.5m). The perimeter is incorporated into a stone field wall and townland boundary (at NW: Wth 2m; int. H 1.5m; ext. H 1.3m) with Dunaree S-NW. There is no visible fosse but there is an entrance gap (Wth of base 1.5m) at S. The rath (MO028-025----) is across the valley c. 120m to the SE. • MO028-026001 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated at the NW end of a short NW-SE drumlin ridge. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. c. 43m NNW-SSE; c. 33m ENE-WSW) defined by an earthen bank. There appears to be no visible fosse but there are several breaks in the bank. The original entrance (Wth of base 2.7m) is probably that at SSE. There are two conjoined hut-sites in the centre and a third inside the bank at N, while there is a rectangular house-site inside the perimeter at S. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). • MO028-027 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated at the SE end of a small NW-SE drumlin ridge, overlooking Lough Nagarnaman, the NW shore of which is c. 200m to the SE. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 24.2m NW-SE) that slopes down to the SE (H c. 1.6m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4-4.8m; int. H 0.4m at SE to 0.9m at NW; ext. H 1.3m at NW to 1.6m at SE) with some bushes. There are slight traces of an outer fosse (Wth c. 2m) across the ridge WNW-NNW. The original entrance (Wth of base 2.2m) is at ESE.
