Description
In marshy ground. Heavily overgrown mound of burnt material (c. 11m N-S; c.9m E-W; H 0.8m). Shape of overgrowth suggests that mound ishorseshoe-shaped with the opening facing SSW. In pasture, on W side of Carrigduff River. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 18m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map; E half levelled on 1904 OS 6-inch map. Semicircular arc (25.5m N-S) formed by earthen bank (H 1.1m) survivesS->N; incorporated into field fence system. Bank heavily overgrown.
