Attached five-bay three-storey over basement former fever hospital, built 1801-04, having central stairwell and recent elevator extension to rear (east) elevation. Now in use as community nursing unit. Pitched artificial slate roof with brown brick chimneystacks, cast-iron rainwater goods, and granite eaves course to north and south elevations. Brown brick laid in Flemish bond to walls, with carved granite plinth course over rendered wall to basement. Steel staircases and landings adjoining north and south elevations. Square-headed window openings with raised render reveals, granite sills, six-over-six pane timber sash windows, two-over-two pane timber sash windows, and replacement timber uPVC windows. Painted masonry doorcase to front (west) elevation comprising Doric columns supporting render entablature, surrounding square-headed door opening with double-leaf timber panelled door and timber framed sidelights, approached by granite platform bridging basement area and steps flanked by cast-iron railings on render plinth wall with granite coping. Square-headed door openings to basement level, with raised render reveals and half-glazed timber panelled doors.

Now in use as community nursing unit. Hipped roof with yellow brick chimneystack having clay chimney pots, octagonal-plan domed cupola on square-plan base with cast-iron weather vane and round-headed openings having louvered vents, clock to front (north) elevation, and cast-iron rainwater goods. Parapet having carved granite coping. Yellow brick laid in Flemish bond to walls, with carved granite plinth course over rendered walls to basement level. Square-headed window openings having granite sills, two-over-two pane, six-over-six pane and six-over-three pane timber sash windows and replacement uPVC windows. Painted masonry doorcase to front (north) elevation comprising Doric columns supporting entablature, surrounding square-headed door opening with double-leaf timber panelled door and timber framed sidelights, approached by granite platform bridging basement area and steps flanked by cast-iron railings on render plinth wall with granite coping. Cast-iron bootscrape. Square-headed door openings to basement level with raised render reveals and half-glazed timber panelled doors.

Square-headed window openings with granite sills, raised render reveals, replacement uPVC windows, and some blocked openings. Panelled aprons and moulded corbels to oriel windows. Tripartite arrangement of round-headed window openings to stairwell to rear of extension, with shared granite sill, raised render reveals, and one-over-one pane timber sash windows with coloured glass margins. Bull's eye window to rear of extension, with raised render reveal and timber framed window. Segmental-headed window openings to north elevation of extension having replacement uPVC windows. Granite doorcase to front (east) elevation comprising Doric columns supporting entablature, surrounding square-headed door opening with replacement uPVC door, replacement uPVC sidelights and granite sills, approached by granite platform bridging basement area and steps flanked by cast-iron railings on rendered plinth wall with granite coping. Square-headed door openings to basement level having raised render reveal and mixed timber and replacement uPVC doors. Staircase to interior with cast-iron balustrade having figurative stops and carved timber handrail.

Description
Detached nine-bay two-storey former fever hospital, built c.1895, having full-height central gabled breakfronts to front (south-west) and rear (north-east) elevations, and pair of single-bay two-storey projecting blocks to rear. Now in use as day support centre. Hipped slate roof, pitched to breakfronts, having octagonal-profile domed cast-iron-clad cupola with finial and louvered vents, red brick chimneystacks, cast-iron rainwater goods, moulded brick eaves course and carved granite coping having ball finials to centre-bays. Red brick laid in English garden wall bond to walls, having brick plinth course with moulded brick capping, moulded brick string courses, decorative foliated terracotta tiled panels to apices of gables to centre-bays. Round-headed window openings to first floor to front and rear elevations, with moulded brick sills and continuous hood moulding. Moulded terracotta arcading to sill to rear. Square-headed window openings to front and rear elevations, with granite sills to first floor, and moulded brick continuous sill course to ground floor. Replacement aluminium and uPVC windows. Oculi to first floors of projecting blocks to rear, with moulded brick and granite voussoirs and timber framed windows. Round-headed former door opening to front elevation, with moulded brick hood moulding, carved granite keystone, partly blocked, and window inserted. Flanked by square-headed former window openings, now altered and partly blocked, in use as door openings with recent doors. Round-headed door opening to rear, having moulded brick hood moulding, carved granite keystone, double-leaf half-glazed timber panelled door and fanlight, flanked by round-headed sidelights with cut granite sills.
