Description
Towards the bottom of a gentle SE-facing slope. D-shaped grass and rush-covered area (dims 34.8m NE-SW; 30m NW-SE) defined by a scarp (H 0.35-0.55m) with some bushes, and a fosse (Wth of base 4.3m; D 0.05-0.45m) SW-NNE. There is no identifiable original entrance, but the perimeter is cut back to a straight face at NW where the fosse is quarried (Wth of top 20m NW-SE; D 0.45m). Description
Towards the bottom of an E-facing slope, c. 50m N of a SW-NE stream running into Lough Shad, which is c. 1.2 km to the ENE. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 30.9m NNE-SSW) defined by an earthen bank (at NNE: Wth 2.4m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.5m) and rounded fosse (at NNE: Wth of top 7.4m; Wth of base 5.2m; D 0.25m) WNW-N-ESE. It is bisected by a WNW-ESE field bank and drain, which formed the townland boundary with Bushfield in 1837 (OS 6-inch map). The perimeter is incorporated into a field bank and hedge (at SSW: Wth 4.3m; ext. H 1.2m) with an inner drain (Wth of base 1m; int. D 0.25m) ESE-W. There is no identifiable original entrance.
