  Description

  Marked as a fulacht fia only on the 1940 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on the NE bank of a SE-NW stream. This is an oval, grass-covered mound of stones (dims. 15m x 6m; H 0.3m) adjacent to the stream. Fulacht fia (WX-039-038002-) is 5m to the NW.   Description

  Situated on the NE bank of a SE-NW stream. This is an oval, grass-covered mound of stones (dims. 10m x 6m; H 0.3m) c. 5m NW of the fulacht fia (WX039-038001-). • WX039-040 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Located on the outer edge of a shelf on a SW-facing slope. This is an oval grass and scrub-covered area (dims c. 38m NNW-SSE; 26m ENE-WSW) defined by a slight earthen bank (Wth 7.8-8.5m; int. H 0.3-0.7m; ext. H 0.7-0.9m) with the remains of an outer fosse (Wth of top 5.2-7.5m; D 0.4-0.4m). Beyond the fosse is a berm (Wth 11m at NE; 4m at SW) defined by a low bank or scarp (max. H 0.8m) (max. ext. dim. ENE-WSW 58m). The outer scarp is truncated by NE-SW field banks at NW and SE. There is no identifiable entrance. • WX039-042 Urn burial
  Description

  Situated on a shelf on the E side of Carrickshawn Hill. There were local reports of the discovery of an urn, similar to that at (WX039-043----), made c. 1890 (Ó Ríordáin 1936, 187). A geophysical survey (20R0066) by J. M. Leigh of a small area(dims c. 60m x c. 40m) c. 75m to the SE at the closest point produced evidence of possible archaeological features, but archaeological testing (20E0242) by C. • WX039-043 Urn burial
  Description

  Located on the N side of a col at the S foot of Carrickshawn Hill, with a low hill rising c. 500m to the SE, and on a gentle E-facing slope. An inverted cordoned urn with all over incised and hatched decoration was found in 1935 at the base of a field bank (Ó Ríordáin 1936). It contained some cremated bone but too little to analyse. According to local reports a similar urn (WX039-042----) had been found c. 230m to the NNW around 1890. A geophysical survey (20R0066) by J. M. Leigh of a small area(dims c. 60m x c. 40m) c. 120m to the NE at the closest point produced evidence of possible archaeological features, but archaeological testing (20E0242) by C. McLoughlin failed to produce any evidence of archaeological features (McLoughlin 2020). • Kenny, house, 1902–1911 · Regional interest
  Description

  Attached three-bay two-storey house, extant 1911, on a T-shaped plan centred on single-bay single-storey flat-roofed projecting porch to ground floor. Now disused. Pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles, moss-covered rendered coping to gables with rendered, ruled and lined chimney stacks to apexes having corbelled stepped stringcourses below capping, and cast-iron rainwater goods on rendered eaves retaining cast-iron downpipes. Rendered, ruled and lined battered walls with rendered panelled quoins to ends. Square-headed window opening in bipartite arrangement in square-headed recess (porch) with concrete sill, and concealed dressings framing timber casement windows behind wrought iron bars. Square-headed window openings with concrete sills, and rendered "bas-relief" surrounds framing two-over-two timber sash windows. Street fronted.

• Campile Garda Síochána Station, garda station/constabulary barracks, 1925–1930 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached five-bay single-storey Garda Síochána station, built 1927, on a U-shaped plan with single-bay single-storey gabled projecting end bays. Now disused. Hipped slate roof on a U-shaped plan with pitched (gabled) slate roofs (end bays), clay ridge tiles, rendered chimney stacks centred on rendered chimney stack having red brick English bond stringcourses below capping supporting terracotta pots, timber bargeboards to gables, and replacement uPVC rainwater goods on timber eaves boards on chevron- or saw tooth-detailed red brick cornice. Roughcast walls on rendered chamfered base. Square-headed central window openings in tripartite arrangement with concrete sills, and rendered surrounds framing six-over-six timber sash windows having two-over-two sidelights. Square-headed window openings (end bays) with concrete sills, and concealed dressings framing six-over-six timber sash windows. Set back from line of street in landscaped grounds on a slightly elevated site.

• Tinnock Bridge, bridge, 1900–1910 · Regional interest
  Description

  Single-arch railway bridge over road, opened 1906. Part creeper- or ivy-covered rendered channelled walls between rendered channelled battered abutment walls with rendered chamfered stringcourses supporting parapets having concrete chamfered coping. Single segmental arch with red brick header bond voussoirs. Sited spanning road on a corner site with unkempt embankments to road.

• Handball alley, 1905–1940 · Regional interest
  Description

  Handball alley, extant 1940, on a rectangular plan with cement rendered concrete block boundary wall to perimeter having part creeper- or ivy-covered coping. Now disused. Road fronted on a wedge-shaped corner site.

• Farm house, 1700–1840 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached five-bay single-storey lobby entry thatched farmhouse with dormer attic, extant 1840, on a T-shaped plan centred on single-bay single-storey lean-to windbreak. Occupied, 1990. Vacant, 2007. Pitched thatch roof on a T-shaped plan centred on lean-to slate roof (windbreak), remains of exposed stretchers to degraded ridge having exposed scallops, cement rendered central chimney stack having corbelled stepped capping, concrete coping to gables, and blind stretchers to eaves having blind scallops. Creeper- or ivy-covered lime rendered battered walls; part creeper- or ivy-covered roughcast surface finish to rear (north) elevation centred on battered buttress. Square-headed central door opening with concealed dressings framing timber panelled door. Square-headed flanking window openings with concealed dressings framing two-over-two (west) or six-over-six (east) timber sash windows. Set in courtyard.
