• LI014-069 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on top of a hill in well-drained, rolling pasture with good views in all directions. The monument is evident as a roughly circular area (diam. 26m E-W) enclosed by two concentric banks. The internal bank (int. H 0.1-0.7m; Wth 1-1.2m; ext. H 1.25-1.4m) is constructed of earth-and-stone and is quite heavily eroded by vegetation and by poaching from cattle. The intervening fosse (Wth 1.3-1.7m; D 0.5m) is evident from E to S, and SW to NW. The external bank (int. H 0.3m; Wth 2.4m; ext H 0.2m) is evident in the S and SW. • LI014-072 Cairn - unclassified
  Description

  Situated on the gentle W-facing slope of a steep hill in rolling pasture, with good views in all directions. The ground is gently uneven in the area of the monument. Marked on the 1923 OS map as 'Carn (Site of)'. Lynch (1911-13, 25-6) refers to a mound at this location where 'from time to time large portions of the mound…have been removed, and about 100 years ago the skeleton of a man, buried in standing position, was found in the mound.' • LI014-073 Children's burial ground
  Description

  Situated on a NE-facing slope in gently rolling pasture with good views to N, S and SE. Marked on 1840 OS map as a circular area (diam. c. 20m) named 'site of Killavoher Burial Ground.' According to the OS Letter Books 'children were buried here until about the year 1800, when the place was cultivated.' According to Lynch (1911-1913, 26) two whitethorn bushes mark the site of 'Cill a' bhothair, the church of the road'; also according to Lynch (1896, 449) 'many years ago some human bones- but not of children- were found near this kyle.'.   Description

  In undulating pasture on S-facing slope with good views in all directions, 100m SW of cairn (LI014-072----). Not depicted on the OS maps. Identified as a conjoined circular enclosure from Bruff Survey aerial photograph (AP 4/3742). No surface remains of the monument visible when inspected in 2005.
