  Raised circular area enclosed by a substantial earthen bank and a well-defined fosse. Break in bank at SE probably represents original entrance. Site lies within a modern plantation of coniferous trees and is overgrown with vegetation precluding closer examination.   Description

  Raised circular area (int. diam. 34.6m) enclosed by the remains of an outer earthen bank, a wide deep intermediate fosse and substantial inner earthen bank. Corresponding breaks in banks with accompanying causeway at E probably represents original entrance. A second apparently original entrance occurs at SE.   A three storey and attic building is depicted at Lismore (70) in Kilmore parish on the Down Survey Barony map of Clonmahon. See this web-page accessed on 11/04/2016 http://downsurvey.tcd.ie/down-survey-maps.php#bm=Clonmoghan&c=Cavan It is described as a 'Castle' in italic lettering on 183e ed. of the OS 6-inch map and as 'Site of' on 1876 ed. No visible remains at ground level.   Probably originally a rath later transformed into a tree-ring. Raised oval area (int. dims. 37.2m N-S; 23.1m E-W) enclosed by a low earthen bank and slight remains of a fosse. Modern entrance at N. A low earthen bank aligned N-S divides the higher E segment from the W segment of the site. Internal area has been planted with beech trees.   Description

  Probably originally a rath later transformed into a tree-ring. A circular raised area (int. dims. 22.4m NW-SE; 23.7m NE-SW) enclosed by an apparently modern trench and low earthen bank. A low earthen embankment running E-W divides the higher northern segment from the southern segment of the site. Break in bank at ENE is probably modern. Architectural heritage

• Lismore Lodge, steward's house, 1780–1820 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached double-pile six-bay two-storey steward's house, built c.1800, originally a five-bay house. Longer hip-ended rear pile, projecting gable-fronted bay with further gabled single-storey entrance, both c.1870. Later in use as country house, now disused. Hipped slate roof, tall rendered chimneystacks marking gables of original five-bays, with profiled capping and decorative clay pots, further chimneystacks to rear pile, decorative bargeboards to projecting gables, sections of cast-iron rainwater goods. Lime-washed roughcast rendered walls. Six-over-three and two-over-two sash windows with exposed sash boxes and painted false window to eastern bay to upper floor, boarded openings to ground floor. Set back from the road, bounded by squared rubble stone walls having square-profile gate piers with pyramidal cappings.

• Lismore House, country house, 1725–1735 · Regional interest
  Description

  Symmetrical pair of detached six-bay two-storey flanking wings to former Lismore House, built c.1730, having advanced outermost end bays to each block, single-bay two-stage flanking tower formerly attached to south corner of house having single-bay extension to north. Now subdivided into separate ownership and in use a pair of detached houses. Pitched slate roofs with curvilinear gables facing site of former house. Rubble stone walls having red brick quoins, eaves course, and string course. Red brick surrounds to oculi at first floor over round-headed ground-floor windows and central segmental-headed door. Replacement windows and doors. Blind lunette and oculus to gables facing former house. Irregular arrangement of brick dressed openings to rear, many openings recently inserted. Tower having mansard slate roof, rubble stone walls with cut-stone platbands, cut-stone surrounds to window openings, round-headed openings with raised keystone and impost blocks to former ground floor, and segmental-headed openings to former basement level. Wings formerly joined to house by curved brick clad screen wall. Remodelled rubble stone outbuilding to south of house site, further complex of outbuildings across the road from Lismore Lodge.
