• GA105-012 Ringfort - cashel
  Description

  On a low hill in grassland. Circular cashel (diam. 40.5m), in fair condition, defined by a low drystone wall. A gap at ENE may be original. A field boundary overlies the cashel wall from ENE to ESE. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 14 October 2016

• GA105-013 Castle - unclassified
  Description

  On limestone outcrop in low-lying farmland. In existence in 1574 (Nolan 1901, 112) and described in the OS Letters (O'Flanagan 1927, Vol. 2, 29-30) as the 'ruin of a castle'. On the 1837 edition of the OS 6-inch map a roughly subrectangular field, subdivided by another N-S running field wall, is labelled 'Site of Castle'. On the subsequent 1929 revision of map edition, 'Castle (Site of)' is shown on a small mound that occupies the E half of a raised rectangular area indicated by hachures. All that now remains is a large grass-covered mound, roughly subcircular in plan (31m NE-SW, 28.3m NW-SE). This may be partly natural: limestone is exposed on the SW side where the mound stands up to 5.25m in height. However, traces of stone and mortar are exposed in places. • GA105-014 Fulacht fia
  Description

  In marshy land adjacent to a small stream. This fulacht fia is defined by a kidney-shaped mound (17.6m NE-SW; NW-SE 14.8m; H 0.3m) opening towards the NW. The NE sector is obscured by gorse. • GA105-014001 Burnt mound
  Description

  In a marshy field close to a stream and some 60m to the E of a fulacht fia (GA105-014----). Fire-fractured stones and black earth are evident in this irregularly shaped low burnt mound (5.8m E-W; H 0.25m max). Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 15 November 2019

• GA115-002 Children's burial ground
  Description

  In pastureland in a hollow in the corner of a field. Marked on the OS 6inch maps as an unenclosed rectangular area (c. 18m NNW-SSE; c. 12m ENE-WSW). On inspection the burial ground was completely overgrown with briars and thorn bushes but no grave-markers could be discerned. The landowner was aware that it was known as a children's burial ground.
