Description
Not marked on any OS ed. Identified as a cropmark from aerial photograph (CUCAP, BGL 87).Circular area (int. diam. c. 33.6m) enclosed by a wide, low, ill-defined scarp, presumably the outline of the levelled bank and fosse. Break in scarp at NE may represent original entrance. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). Description
Raised circular area (int. diam. c. 35m) enclosed by an earthen bank and a fosse both of which are well preserved from W-N-SSE and ploughed out elsewhere. Original entrance not recognisable. Description
Located on a slight rise in a gently undulating landscape with turloughs. A circular grass-covered area (diam. c. 65m E-W; c. 60m N-S) defined by a slight bank at N and NE but mostly by a scarp is visible on Google Earth (07/02/2019). A defunct NE-SW railway line from Mullingar to Cavan town is just to the NW. It is also visible on Digital Globe (c. 2013) and was first reported by Jean Charles Caillère. Description
Detached three-bay two-storey house, built c.1790, with corrugated-iron lean-to to west gable and return to rear. Formerly also in use as post office. Pitched slate roof with terracotta ridge tiles, rendered chimneystacks with bands below caps and clay pots, sections of cast-iron rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls over smooth rendered plinth. Bipartite windows in moulded render surrounds to outer bays at both levels, having one-over-one sash windows to upper storey and timber casements to ground floor, all with painted sills. Central upper floor window having one-over-one sashes in moulded surround. Central entrance door with margin-paned half-glazed timber panelled door. Set slightly back from road.
