Description
Located on the N summit of a NNW-SSE ridge. It is not recorded on any OS map. This is a D-shaped grass-covered area (dims c. 43m N-S; 17m E-W) sloping down to the S. It is defined by an earthen bank (at E: Wth of base 3.8m; Wth of top 1m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.3m) NNW-E-SSE backing onto a NNNW-SSE field bank at W with no evidence of a monument W of the field bank. There is no visible fosse or entrance but it is probably a rath. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). Description
Located on a summit of a NNW-SSE ridge. This is a raised but overgrown circular area (diam. c.30-35m) defined by an overgrown scarp (at NE: H 1.7m) separated by a fosse (at NE: Wth of top 5.4m; Wth of base 1.5m; ext. D 1.4m) from an outer bank (at NE: Wth of base 4m; Wth of top 1.8m; ext. H 0.5m). An original entrance is not identified. - ME005-079 Ringfort - rath
Description
Situated on the summit of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. This is a raised circular and grass-covered platform (diam. 55m NNE-SSW; c. 50m NW-SE) that slopes down to the S (H c. 2m) defined by a by an earthen bank (Wth of base 5-6m; int. H 0.3m at S to 1.1m at N; ext. H 1.6-2m) separated by a fosse (Wth of top 8m; Wth of base 2-3m; ext. D 0.5m at SSE to 1.3m; at NNW) from a largely overgrown outer bank (Wth of base 4-5m; ext. H 1.5m at NNW) that only survives SE-W-N as a field bank with an outer drain. The ramp entrance (Wth of base 2.9m) and causeway (H 0.6m) are at SSE. A NW-SE field bank that overlay the monument has been removed from the platform but is extant in the fosse. Description
Situated in a small hollow with a small oval lake (dims c. 100m NE-SW; c. 70m NW-SE) c. 80m to the S and another occasional lake (dims c. 150m NW-SE; c. 60m NE-SW) c. 60m to the E.A circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) is visible on OSI aerial images (1995), which may be a rath.
