Description
Situated in a low-lying landscape on a SW-facing slope and c. 20m N of a small canalised W-E stream. This was described in 1967 as an oval grass-covered area (dims 52m NE-SW; 36.3m NW-SE) that slopes down to the SW (H 2.5m). It is defined by a grass-covered earthen bank with bushes W-N-E that is best preserved (Wth 8m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1m) at NE but is reduced to a scarp (at SW: Wth 3m; H 0.8m) elsewhere. There are slight traces of a fosse at S, but the original entrance is not identified. The scrub had been removed by 1995 (OSAP) and its profile is now much diminished. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of revision: 6 December 2017

Description
Located just off the crest of a NW-facing slope on the summit of a SE-NW spur. This is a subcircular grass and scrub-covered area (dims 36m NE-SW; 31.2m NW-SE) that slopes down to the NW (H 2.2m). It is defined by an overgrown earthen bank (at SE: Wth 7m; int. H 1.3m; ext. H 1.3m) NE-S-SW that is reduced to a scarp (at NW: Wth 6m; H 2.8m) elsewhere. There is an outer U-shaped fosse (at SE: Wth of top 5.3m; ext. D 1.9m) and external bank (at SE: Wth of base 4m; ext. H 0.9m) NW-N-SE, but the fosse is reduced to a berm (at NW: Wth 4m) and the bank to a scarp (at NW: Wth 2m; H 1.6m) elsewhere (ext. dim. 50m NE-SW). An entrance gap (Wth of base 1.8m) in the inner bank at E may be original. The interior has become overgrown since 1967 (Bing 2013). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of revision: 6 December 2017
