  Description

  Marked 'Fort' on OS 1836 and 1876 eds. An earlier report (OPW 1970) described it as a raised circular area (int. dims. 32m ENE-WSW; 31.5m NNW-SSE) enclosed by a substantial earthen bank which by that time had been partly replaced by a modern stone wall.   Description

  Marked 'Fort' on OS 1836 and 1876 eds. Situated on the S shoulder of a low drumlin hill. All that survives to indicate the presence of the site is a curve in the field boundary from ENE-E-SSE.   Description

  This site, an obvious fulacht fiadh, was located on rising ground 5m from a stream. It comprised an irregular spread of charcoal and burnt sandstone and measured 7m by 15m. A smaller, isolated spread (2m x 3m) was located 2m to the S and may be part of the same site.   Description

  Marked 'Fort' on OS 1836 ed. and 'Site of' on 1876 ed. Situated on the SW shoulder of an area of high ground. The field in which the site was located is still known as 'The Fort Field' (local information). Not visible at ground level. • CV040-053 Fulacht fia
  Description

  This site lay on rising ground, 6m from a stream with bogland to the W. It comprised a circular spread of charcoal (18m x 4m) and fist-sized pieces of sandstone which ran underneath the baulk and outside the corridor. The loam was stained dark by the charcoal and appeared to contain a stone setting or trough (1m x 0.7m) with a gap of c. 0.3-0.4m between the stones. Both charcoal and stone lay 0.2m below the sod layer and had a depth of 0.1m, with an underlying layer of grey/black ash which was visible around the stone setting.   Description

  Irregular spread of loose burnt sandstone and dark charcoal-flecked loam. This site has been levelled. It underlay a field ditch. The site differed from other fulachta fiadh in that it was located on dry level ground and was some distance from water. The spread had approximate dimensions of 12m by 6m, was c. 0.08m below sod and c. 0.1m deep.
