- MO032-008 Souterrain
Description
Located towards the bottom of the SW-facing slope of a drumlin. There is a local memory of an underground passage that was open in the later nineteenth century and located close to the house (SMR file). The passage was supposed to run towards the rath (MO032-007----). It is no longer open and its precise location is not known. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of revision: 15 May 2018

- MO032-007 Ringfort - rath
Description
Located on the NW-facing slope of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. This is a grass-covered circular area (32.6m NE-SW; 31.4m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base 4.2-4.6m; int. H 0.4-1m; ext. H 0.8m at E to 2.2m at W) and hedge, with an outer fosse (at W: Wth of top 4m; ext. D 1m) that only survives S-NNW. The fosse has been removed NNW-E-S, and the outer face of the bank here is stone-faced. There are gaps in the bank at SSW and SSE, but the latter (Wth of base 2m) with a causeway may be the original entrance. The growth has been cleared from the bank since 1967 (Bing 2013). - MO032-069 Enclosure
Description
Located towards the bottom of the W-facing spine of a drumlin. A circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 35-40m) with trees on the perimeter is depicted on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic script as a 'fort, and it is depicted as a hachured oval feature on the 1907 edition. It may be a tree-ring and it survives as an oval area (dims c. 35m N-S; c. 30m E-W) with mature deciduous trees. It was first noted and recorded by Ed. O'Donovan. Date of upload: 15/05/2018
