Description
This bridge which spans the River Liffey was built in 1776 and occupies thesite of Arran Bridge, built in 1683 (Dillon Cosgrave 1977, 5 (2nd ed. ); Maher 1932, 12; Tutty 1981, 25-26).

Description
The site isidentified as the site of the medieval school of St Thomas Aquinas. Excavations in 1998 on thenorthern portion of the site extending from Bridgefoot Street to Island Street contained archaeological soils. In places there is c. 2.5m of archaeological deposits. (O'Rourke 2000, 45-46).

Description
De Courcy describes a former dwelling W of Fr. Matthew's Bridge which was associated with the Ussher family in the Sixteenth century (1996, 401-402). This backed onto the river Liffey. Perrot's survey of 1585 provide some dimensions (L 32.5m, wall T.1.25m, wall H 5.9m). This apparently occupied the site of a house mentioned in 1284 when it was granted to Robert de Notyngham and later restored in 1317 by John de Grauntsete(op cit 402). No visible trace

Description
Arran Quay Watch House Watch House is depicted on the northern side of of the River Liffey at the west end of Arran Quay, at the junction with Bridewell Bridge (DU018-020312-) and Queen Street. Annotated ‘W.H’ on Rocque’s 1756 map of Dublin. On this map a building is depicted standing on the north side of the River Liffey, immediately to the east of Bridewell bridge (now Mellow’s Bridge). Description
Attached two-bay two-storey warehouse, built c.1830, having fourteen-bay west elevation, and single-storey extension with pitched corrugated-iron roof to west elevation. Now disused. Remains of hipped corrugated-iron roof. Rubble limestone walls with cut limestone quoins to west and north elevations, rendered walls to front (south). Square-headed window openings having yellow brick block-and-start surrounds and granite sills. Metal grilles and bars to exterior of windows. Square-headed shuttered entrance to front elevation. Boundary walls to north of site, comprising snecked cut limestone walls topped with cast-iron railings, having double-leaf cast-iron gates flanked by square-profile piers. Pedimented pedestrian entrances to either end of boundary walls, having square-headed openings with cast-iron single-leaf gates.
