- LF018-027 Ringfort - rath
Description
On a gentle NW-facing slope in pasture. A raised circular area (diam. 25.3m) enclosed by a low bank of earth and stone (Wth 5.7m; H 0.3-0.7m). The outer face of the bank has been steepened and incorporated into a field boundary from N-E-S. There is no trace of a fosse and the original entrance is not recognisable. Compiled by: Patrick F. Description
On a prominent hillock in rolling pasture. A raised circular area (diam. 22.7m) enclosed by a much-denuded, low bank of earth and stone (Wth 4.1m; H 0.8m max.).The bank has been modified and incorporated into a field boundary from NE-E-S. A report in 1976 (SMR file) recorded fragmentary traces of an external fosse, which are no longer visible. It also referred to a 'berm-like feature [Wth c. 3m] at the outer foot of the bank at W' but this appears to be an entirely natural feature. The original entrance is not recognisable. Description
On a low hillock in rolling countryside. A raised circular area (diam. 30.4m) enclosed by a partially denuded, wide, low bank of earth and stone (Wth 6.8m; H 0.3-0.8m). There is no trace of a fosse. The rath is divided into unequal portions by an ENE-WSW field boundary. The smaller portion, to the NNW, has been levelled and is not visible at ground level. - LF019-029 Ringfort - rath
Description
On a knoll in pasture. A raised roughly oval area (c. 38m NW-SE; c. 24m NE-SW) enclosed by a poorly preserved, low bank of earth and stone (Wth 3.2-3.4m; H 0.5-0.7m). The outer face of the bank merges into the hillside from SE-S-W. From SW-N-ESE it has been incorporated into a field boundary. A report in 1976 (SMR file) recorded an external fosse, which has since been infilled. A break (Wth 2.8m) in the bank at ENE may mark the original entrance. Compiled by: Patrick F.
