Description
Large raised circular area (int. diam. 52m) enclosed by a low earthen bank and a shallow, irregular fosse, both of which are identifiable only from SW-W-N. Elsewhere the defining feature is a low scarp. Original entrance not recognisable. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). Description
Double-arch rubble stone road bridge, built c.1820, spanning Barora River. Slightly humped tarmacadam deck with random-coursed rubble stone parapets having Scotch coping. Random rubble stone spandrels and wing walls. Segmental arches with regular ashlar voussoirs and rendered random rubble barrel. Central pier with dressed stone V-cutwaters.
