  Description

  Located immediately N of a bridge over a stream which forms the boundary between the townlands of Kiltarnaght and Aghadooey Glebe. It flanks the E side, at the S end, of an access road into a private dwelling. This monument is listed in the SMR (1991) and the RMP (1997) as ‘building’ based on an unpublished and undated field report by Liam Price (d. 1967) (unpublished NMI Topographical files). Price recorded a mortared stone wall on a roughly N–S axis, ‘about 14 yards long [c. 13], 9 feet high [c. 2.7m] and now about 3 feet wide [0.9m].’ The facing on the west side was robbed out. Ground level was c. 2m higher on the E side concealing much of the E face of the wall but what was visible appeared intact. Price was told locally that ‘it was a bit of a wall of a castle.’ An inspection in July 2015 confirmed that the remains consist of a mortared rubble wall (L 11.5m, Wth 0.6-0.8m; H c. 2.5m high), orientated NNW/SSE. A modern stone wall (H 0.85-1.6m) has been constructed along the west side of the older wall and, as a result, only the upper section of the robbed out W face of the old wall is visible. The eastern side of the wall is concealed by overgrowth and could not be examined. According to local tradition, the wall represents the remains of a mill. (Pers. comm.   Description

  Single-arch railway bridge over lane, built 1893-4; opened 1894; extant 1897. Closed, 1934. Reopened, 1936. Closed, 1937. Now disused. Part creeper- or ivy-covered tuck pointed snecked rock faced limestone or sandstone walls between tuck pointed snecked rock faced limestone or sandstone battered piers with drag edged rock faced cut-limestone stringcourses supporting lichen-covered drag edged rock faced cut-limestone dwarf parapets. Single segmental arch with drag edged rock faced limestone or sandstone ashlar voussoirs centred on drag edged rock faced cut-limestone keystones. Sited spanning land.
