- TS088-036001 Ringfort - rath
Description
On a very gentle N-facing slope in upland pasture, 4m ESE of a ringfort (TS088-036002-) and 2m SE of an enclosure (TS088-036004-). The monument is bisected by a townland boundary which consists of a wide stone wall (Wth 1m). The W half of the ringfort is well-preserved but the E half has been levelled and the outline survives as scarp (H 0.22m). An irregularly-shaped ringfort (diam. 29.3m N-S; c. 32m E-W), the bank in the SW sector is straight-sided. The W half is enclosed by a gravelly clay bank (Wth 1.5m crest, 6m base; int. H 1.16m; ext. H 1.9m). A gap in the bank in the N and S quadrants adjacent to the townland boundary appear to be later, providing access to the fields beyond. At the external base of the bank in the W quadrant there is a wide ditch dividing this monument and the adjacent ringfort (TS088-036002-), however, this appears to be the result of small scale quarrying. - TS088-036002 Ringfort - rath
Description
On gentle NW-facing slope on crest of ridge, in rough upland pasture, 4m NW of ringfort (TS088-036001-) and 2m NE of enclosure (TS088-036004-). Circular area (diam. 26.7m N-S; 24m E-W) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 0.9m crest, 2.9m base; int. H 0.57m; ext. H 0.75m). Souterrain (TS088-036003-) in the interior in the W quadrant, running E-W. Clear, grass-covered interior with some gorse and scrub growing around the bank. Some boulders appear to have been thrown up on the bank in the NW quadrant. Gap (Wth 1.4m) in bank in S quadrant and another gap in the E quadrant which is obscured by gorse. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011
- TS088-036003 Souterrain
Description
In the W quadrant of a ringfort (TS088-036002-). A lintel of the souterrain has partially collapsed revealing a passage (Wth 0.87m x at least 0.67m H x at least 3.8m L) constructed of dry-stone walling with flat stone lintels. Rubbish has been deposited in the souterrain. Runs in an E-W direction. The walls appear to be narrowing towards the E end. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011

Description
On a gentle NW-facing slope in rough upland terrain, 2m SW of ringfort (TS088-036002-) with 4m NW of another ringfort (TS088-036001-). This oval enclosure (diam. 34m N-S; 28m E-W) is defined by a stone wall, most of which survives in a collapsed state (Wth 1m crest, 2.8m base; int. H 0.77m; ext. H 0.43m) and is partially grass-covered. There is a gap in the wall in the SE quad. (Wth 0.7m), however, this appears to be a sheep gap. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011
- TS091-009001 Enclosure
Description
On a slight platform of SW-facing slope of Barrancullia in the Knockmealdown mountains, in undulating upland boggy terrain, with heather encroaching on the enclosure. This enclosure is part of a complex consisting of enclosures (TS091-009007-; TS091-009008-; TS091-009009-; TS091-009012-), hut sites (TS091-009003-; TS091-009004-; TS091-009006-; TS091-009010-; TS091-009011-; TS091-009015-), a possible ring-cairn (TS091-009002-), clearance cairns (TS091-009005-) and a field system (TS091-009013-) identified by Diarmuid O'Keeffe, 1996. Large oval area (ext. diam. 24.4m N-S; 28.4m E-W) defined by a rubble stone wall with sandstone boulders (E quadrant: Wth 1.8m; H above int. 0.5m; H above ext. 0.8m; W quadrant: Wth 2.5m; H above int. 0.6m; H above ext. 0.25). The wall has largely collapsed and downslope this collapse is spread out over 9m from the wall. In the NW quadrant the bank appears to have been augmented, probably by more recent field clearance. There is a possible entrance (Wth 1.7m) in the W quadrant. The interior slopes to the SW. There are several small clearance cairns (TS091-009005-) in the vicinity, including one 17.8m to the NE, one 14m to the N and at least four 10-20m to the NNW. Description
On the opposing slopes of Barranacullia and Knocknagearagh in the Knockmealdown Mountain range, both slopes overlooking a river valley, the river flows into the River Suir c. 3.5km to the N at Newcastle. Diarmuid O’Keeffe (unpublished 1996) identified c. 70 cairns on the SW slopes of Barranacullia in an area of 70 hectares , running over 1km N-S and c. 700m E-W. The majority straddle the 700-800ft contour, with some just below and others above these contours. The most northerly cairn is 17.8m NE of an enclosure (TS091-009001-) and is composed of sandstone rubble (dims. 4.1m N-S; 4m E-W; H 0.5m). There is also an oval cairn (dims. 4.6m N-S; 3.5m E-W; H 0.5m) 14m N of the enclosure and at least four low cairns 10-20m to NNW. Another cairn (dims. 4.2m N-S; 3.9m E-W; H 0.19-0.65m) composed of sandstone and quartz rubble is located 35m W of a possible hut site (TS091-009006-). On the SE slope of Knocknagearagh O’Keeffe (ibid.) identified a cluster of c. 7 clearance cairns c. 180m SW of an enclosure (TS091-009008-) and another cluster of c. 50 cairns S of this, in an area of 17.5 hectares, running over a distance of c. 500m N-S and c. 350m E-W, with an enclosure (TS091-009007-) near the northern limit of this cluster and two possible hut sites (TS091-009010-; TS091-009011-) in the SE. These clearance cairns straddle either side of a 700ft contour. A number of enclosures (TS091-009001-; TS091-009007-; TS091-009008-; TS091-009009-; TS091-009012-), hut sites (TS091-009003-; TS091-009004-; TS091-009010-; TS091-009011-; TS091-009015-), a possible ring-cairn (TS091-009002-) and a field system (TS091-009013-) are associated with these clearance cairns. A larger cairn (TS091-009016-), which may not be a clearance cairn, is located c. 14m E of a possible hut site (TS091-009006-). Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 February 2014

It is a small denuded stone enclosure (int. dims. 1.9m x 2.1m; int. H 0.3-0.6m; ext. H 0.2-0.6m) with a lot of rubble in the interior. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 February 2014

Description
On the SW slopes of Barranacullia hill and the SE slopes of Knocknagearagh hill in the Knockmealdown mountain range. This is part of a complex of enclosures (TS091-009001-; TS091-009007-; TS091-009008-; TS091-009009-; TS091-009012-), hut sites (TS091-009003-; TS091-009004-; TS091-009006-; TS091-009010-; TS091-009011-; TS091-009015-), a possible ring-cairn (TS091-009002-), clearance cairns (TS091-009005-) identified by Diarmuid O'Keeffe, 1996. There are numerous stone walls associated with these hut sites, enclosures and clearance cairns. One wall on the SW slopes of Barranacullia is visible for c. 200m running roughly N-S from a point c. 40m E of a hut site (TS091-009006-), another length of wall runs for c. 50m westward and downslope from the long wall. On a gentle E-facing slope of Knocknagearagh c. 70m SSE of a rectangular enclosure (TS091-009008-) a length a wall (Wth 2.3m; H 0.38-0.48m) forms a large curving arc (L 37.7m; chord 21.7m). O’Keeffe noted another arcing stone wall c. 220m SSE of a hut site (TS091-009004-). There is also walling possibly associated with a circular enclosure (TS091-009007-), approximately 20m NW of the NW quadrant the walling runs westward for c. 50m before turning southwestward for c. 130m and again turning eastward and then northeastward for a further c. 80m before petering out. Description
On a gradual W-facing slope of Barranacullia hill in the Knockmealdown mountains. This cairn is part of a complex of enclosures (TS091-009001-; TS091-009007-; TS091-009008-; TS091-009009-; TS091-009012-), hut sites (TS091-009003-; TS091-009004-; TS091-009006-; TS091-009010-; TS091-009011-; TS091-009015-), a possible ring-cairn (TS091-009002-), clearance cairns (TS091-009005-) and a field system (TS091-009013-) identified by Diarmuid O'Keeffe, 1996. A hut site (TS091-009006-) is located 14m to the W and a stone enclosure (TS091-009007-) is clearly visible on the slope across the river valley. A cairn (dims. 5.3m N-S; 5.6m E-W; H 0.35-1.05m) composed of sandstone stones which are quite large. This appears to be a deliberate cairn rather than clearance and may be associated with burial. In Scotland slightly larger cairns amidst smaller clearance cairns have been classified as burial cairns (RCAHMS 1990, 2). Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 03 March 2014
