Description
In pasture, on a level area at the foot of an SE-facing slope. Monument identified by Will Forbes (no date). The Lingaun river flows c. 28m to the SE. Two fulachta fia (TS072-016002- and TS072-016003-) are located c. 100m and 240m to the SW respectively and another lies (TS072-017----) c. 260m to the ENE. Description
In pasture, at the extreme SE edge of the Lingaun River. Monument identified by Will Forbes (no date). The remains of a levelled semi-circular mound (dims. 10m N-S; 10m E-W; H 0.2m) are visible NE-E-S-W. The mound has been truncated by the river to the NW. A narrow inlet (Wth 0.8m; D 0.25m) from the river where the water has eroded into the mound may be the original trough area (L 2.2m; Wth 1.0m; D 0.9m). Heat shattered stones and black soil are visible in the section (D 0.4m) at the rear of the trough area and in an eroded area to the WSW. A small upright stone (T 0.1m; H 0.15m; L 0.35m) protrudes from the mound above the trough area to the WSW. Description
In pasture, at the base of a steep NNE-facing slope on the S side of Lingaun River. A fulacht fia (TS072-017----) is located 310m to the WNW. According to Lucas (1972, 187) a small trapezoidal flint scraper was recovered from this fulacht fia. Though levelled, the remains of D-shaped mound (dims. 20m NNE-SSW; 50m WNW-ESE), best defined from SW-WNW, are visible. The fulacht fia is defined by the Lingaun River on its straight side to the NNE. A field boundary to the E has been removed. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011
