Description
In improved, slightly undulating pasture. Circular area (dims. 15m NE-SW; c. 14m NW-SE) defined by very faint trace of levelled bank S-W and NE-E. Levelled bank is incorporated into bend of stream W-NE and is barely traceable E-S. Interior is level and has been incorporated into field as pasture. Description
In wet, generally level pasture. Oval area (map dims. c. 20m NW-SE; c. 18m NE-SW) defined by levelled bank (overall Wth 6.3m; Wth at top 1.5m; int. H 0.15m; ext. H 0.6m) NW-ENE which is obscured by dense vegetation ENE-NW. Interior is overgrown with nettles and thistles. Clear view of enclosure (TS060-102----) c. 150m to WNW. Large hole excavated along field boundary to SW and backfilled with farm refuse. Earthen spoil dumped on W-side of monument and similar dumping noted to E. Description
In level tillage. Sub-square area (dims. c. 30m E-W; c. 28m N-S) defined by bank (overall Wth 7.25m; Wth at top 1m; int. H 1.1m; ext. H 1.95m) at E-end of N-side, E, S and S-end of W-side and is reduced to scarp (Wth 2.8m; H 1.6m) at N-end of W-side and W-end of N-side. Bank has possibly been reduced in antiquity at NW corner where it is least defined. Substantial fosse (overall Wth 6.6-7m; basal Wth 2m; D 0.85-1.1m) is infilled intermittently with earthen spoil and stone and there is some suggestion of a levelled outer bank (H 0.15-0.2m), though this may be an accumulation of soil at the edge of the plough zone. Entrance (overall Wth 4m; basal Wth 1.75m) mid-way along E-side has a causeway which may be a recent modification due to dumping of soil and stone. Interior is generally level and has a thicket of deciduous trees. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011

Description
In rough pasture, on S-facing slope atop ridge (long-axis N-S), overlooking River Suir to W. Land falls down to E and W also. Remains of circular enclosure (dims. c. 26m N--S; c. 32m E-W) defined by levelled scarp (Wth c. 3.5m; H 0.5m). Ruinous stone buildings to N. Interior tends down slope to S. - TS068-016 Castle - motte
Description
In very undulating pasture, on high ground above valley, on the S side of the River Suir. Monument appears to utilise naturally unulating land. Circular area (diam. c. 40m - map measurement) defined by substantial earthen scarp (Wth 5.4m; H 3.5m) appears to utilise natural rise of undulating ground. Intervening fosse (Wth 8.4m; Dth 0.3m) clearly evident S-W-WNW and bailey visible E-NE between outer scarp and earthwork (TS068-16001-). No fosse NW-NE as scarp falls steeply to natural slope of similar gradient. Outer bank (Wth 7m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.55m) of earth and a lot of rounded stones SW-W-NW appears to have been constructed by throwing fosse material outwards. It is likely that this was incorporated into field boundary ENE-S-W as shown on 1905 OS 6-inch map. Long, uniform 'ramp' feature leads up bank to gap (Wth 1.5m) in inner scarp at E. Earthwork (TS068-016001-) adjacent to E of monument. Interior inaccessible due to dense growth of thorn trees. Heavy tree cover in and around the monument, otherwise excellent views afforded, particularly over valley of River Suir W-N-E and NE to Athassel Abbey (TS068-013----). Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011
- TS068-016001 Earthwork
Description
Adjacent to E of motte (TS068-016---). In very undulating pasture, on high ground above valley, on S-side of River Suir. Identified during field inspection (16/11/2006). Monument appears to utilise naturally undulating land. Irregular-shaped earthwork divided into two distinct parts and tilting downslope to WSW. Eastern portion is a raised earthen platform, roughly rectangular in plan (dims. c. 18m NE-SW; 7m NW-SE). Defined by steep scarp (Wth 6m; H 2.35m) to NW, scarp (Wth 5m; H 0.85m) to SW and shallow scarp (Wth 2m; H 0.55m) to SE; appears to continue to NE, but not visible due to dense growth of bushes. Western portion is a similar raised earthen platform, sub-rectangular in plan (dims. c. 6m N-S; c. 13m E-W) defined by steep scarp to NW and shallower scarp (Wth 3.5m; H 0.35m) to NE and similar to SE and SW. Gap (Wth 8.5m) almost like an entrance, divides the two sides of the earthwork. This is a probable entrance feature associated with motte (TS068-016---). Reasonable views to Athassel Abbey (TS068-013---) c. 200m to NE on opposite side of River Suir. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 27 May 2014
- TS068-017 Ringfort - rath
Description
In reclaimed pasture, on gentle N-facing slope of gently undulating land. Sub-circular area (dims. c. 28m N-S; c. 20m E-W) defined by scarp (Wth 3.25m; H 1.15m) SW-W-WNW, steep scarp (Wth 7.2m; H 2.45m) NW-N-ESE and gentle scarp ESE-S-SW. External fosse (Wth 6.45m; Dth 0.3m) SW-W-WNW. Probable earthen field boundary (Wth 5.2m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 0.5m) flanks fosse SW-W-WNW and turns at right angle away from monument, to W. Interior poached by cattle and covered in mature thorn trees. Small, firm mound (dims. 2.5m NE-SW; 1.5m NW-SE; H 0.4m) of earth and stone is enclosed to E and S by latter field boundary. Both a scatter of loose stone and numerous piles in and around monument. Wet pools of mucky water to N, E and Lough Muck to SE. Enclosure (TS068-044----) c. 275m to WSW. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011
- TS068-018 Enclosure
Description
In improved, gently undulating pasture, on a low rise. Good views in all directions and a ringfort (TS068-021----) is visible 1km to the SSW. The remains of an oval area (dims. 34m N-S; 28m E-W) are defined by traces of a shallow fosse (overall Wth 3.15m; basal Wth 0.55m; D 0.05m) from NW-N-NE and by a more obvious fosse (Wth 2.5m; D 0.15m) NE-E-SW. The interior has a gentle E-facing slope and is truncated by a field fence (long axis N-S) across the W sector. There are three small wind turbines within the N-sector of the monument. According to local information the monument was levelled during Land Project works in the 1960s. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011

Description
In improved pasture, on E shoulder, near top of hillock. Triangulation pillar marking spot height of 432ft is to W. Circular area (dims. c. 26m N-S; c. 25m E-W) appears to have been cut into hillslope and earth thrown up from interior to form enclosing bank (Wth 4.35m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.4m). Large quantities of field clearance stones deposited in and around enclosure. Enclosure (TS068-022----) c. 110m to S. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011

Description
In improved pasture, on steep S-facing slope. Slight visible surface trace of rectangular enclosure (dims. c. 22m N-S; c. 30m E-W) defined by levelled field boundary (long-axis E-W) to N and slightly raised area (H 0.05m) above rest of ground level of field. Slight rise visible on E and W sides, but completely levelled on S side. Depicted on 1905 OS 6-inch map as rectangular enclosure (dims. c. 30m N-S; c. 50m E-W) adjoining field boundary (long-axis E-W) to N. Enclosure (TS068-021----) c. 110m to N. Description
In pasture atop E-facing slope. Remains of circular area (dims. c. 30m N-S; c. 28m E-W) defined by levelled earthen bank (Wth 5m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.3m). Interior generally level, except large depression in SE quadrant, probably quarried. Depicted on 1900-05 OS 6-inch map as circular enclosure (diam c. 20m) to S of track way. Two large depressions at E and SE exterior of monument, probaby quarried. Linear depression (long-axis N-S) to SW of enclosure may be levelled field boundary. Existing field boundary to N with farm track way flanking exterior. Enclosure (TS068-017----) c. 275m to ENE and Athassel Abbey (TS068-013----) visible in distance to N. Description
In pasture, enclosing hillock. Some form of hilltop enclosure - large area (dims. c. 100m N-S; c. 90m E-W), mainly defined by natural downslope on W, N & E-sides and gentle downslope on S-side. Slight possible fosse visible on E-side, but this may be a natural channel for run-off. Shown on 1st ed. OS 6-inch map DATE as a circular area of scrub and identified by aerial photo (GSI 16.4.1974, R.511/S.660). Enclosure (TS068-021----) located c. 750m to SE. Description
On the E-facing slope of a natural embankment which runs parallel to the W shore of Lough Muck which is c. 20m to the W. A D-shaped enclosure (TS068-017----) is located c. 60m to the NW. The possible cairn (dims. 5.2m N-S; 5.8m E-W; H 1.15m) is built into the slope and constructed of stones which are covered by an earthen mantle. There are a number of crude limestone blocks (dims. 30-50m) around the edge, particularly in the NE quadrant, giving a suggestion of kerbing and some protruding from the cairn itself. At the edge of the ESE sector there is a concentration of smaller stones which maybe the remnants of walling. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011
