• TS059-040001 Enclosure
  Description

  In poorly drained, gently undulating pasture. Monument identified on an aerial photograph (GSI R.439/8, 16/04/1974). An oval area (dims. 22m N-S; 28m E-W) defined by a low bank (Wth 5.6m; int. H 0.15m; ext. H 0.55m) at the NNE-ENE and WSW-NNW which is reduced to scarp (Wth 2.6m; H 0.37m) at the NNW-NNE and ENE-WSW, and an external fosse (Wth 4.8-4.9m; D 0.07-0.1m) at the NNW-ENE and ESE-SW. There is a possible modern entrance (Wth 6m) at the SE and NNW (Wth 3m), where the scarp is very low. The interior is grass covered and uneven. • TS059-061 Enclosure
  Description

  In pasture, on a W-facing slope. A D-shaped area (dims. 33m N-S; 14m E-W) defined by scarp (Wth 1m; H 0.4m), a fosse (Wth 6.2m; D 0.8m) and possible outer bank (Wth 6.9m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 0.3m) from N-E. The scarp and fosse are evident from NNW-SE, with a stream and the townland boundary (long axis NNW-SSE) defining the monument to the WSW. The possible outer bank may have been incorporated into a linear drainage feature which continues to the SE. The interior is generally level and has clumps of briars. A semi-circular area (dims. 32m N-S; 18m E-W) defined by a gentle scarp (Wth 3.5m; max. H 0.3m) to the W of the townland boundary may indicate a continuation of the natural rise on which the monument is situated. On the 1st (1840) ed. OS 6-inch map a lime kiln is depicted to the W of the enclosure, on the W side of the townland boundary, this may indicate that the western portion of the monument was quarried for stone used in the lime kiln.   Description

  In wet pasture, on a gentle NE-facing slope. An oval area (dims. 24m WNW-ESE; 16m NNE-SSW), with a dish-shaped interior, defined by scarp (Wth 1.5m; H 0.35m) from NE-SE and SW-NW and by a lower scarp (Wth 1.8m; H 0.15m) from SE-SW and NW-NE. There are gaps (Wth 3m) at the NNW and NNE (Wth 4m). A band (Wth 4m) of freshly disturbed soil, with recent regeneration of growth, encompasses the monument.
