- RO029-053001 Church
Description
The parish church of Cloonfinlough, listed as Elionfynlacte in the ecclesiastical taxation of Elphin in 1306 when it was described as destroyed (CDI vol. 5, 223). Situated on a gentle W-facing slope overlooking Fin Lough, c. 60m to the NW, and within a subcircular graveyard (RO029-053002-) which was originally a rath (RO029-053003-). The church is a rectangular structure (int. dims. 13m E-W; 5.8m N-S) defined by fragmentary foundations and walls (T 0.8m; max. H 2.8m) with no diagnostic features, although it had a W doorway. A fragment of the shaft of a memorial cross (RO029-053004-) (dims. 0.23m x 0.17m; L 0.8m) with chamfered angles and the date 1628 (Siggins 1986b) or 1605 is in the graveyard. Description
The parish church of Cloonfinlough (RO029-053001-) is within a subcircular graveyard which was originally a rath (RO029-053003-) (ext. diam. 46m E-W; 42m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.5-4m; int. H 0.2-0.5m; ext. H 1-1.3m) and hedge with the graveyard wall cut back into it on the outside, and an outer flat-bottomed fosse (Wth at base 2.5-3.5m; D 0.4-0.8m). An ENE-WSW road wall truncates the enclosure at NW. A fragment of a memorial cross (RO029-053004-) is in the graveyard. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010

Description
On a gentle W-facing slope overlooking Fin Lough which is c. 60m to the NW. Circular area (diam. 46m E-W; 42m N-S) defined by an earthen bank and hedge (Wth 3.5-4m; int. H 0.2-0.5m; ext. H 1-1.3m) NE-S-NW which serves as the graveyard (RO028-053002-) of church (RO029-053001-). The graveyard wall has cut back the bank on the outside, and there is an outer flat-bottomed fosse (Wth at base 2.5-3.5m; D 0.4-0.8m) NE-S-NW. A fragment of the stem of a memorial cross (dims 0.23m x 0.17m; H 0.8m) dated 1628 (Siggins 1986b, 35) or 1605 is in the graveyard (RO029-053002-) of the parish church (RO029-053001-) of Cloonfinlough.
