Description
At the crest of the S-facing slope of a NW-SE ridge. A small Latin cross of limestone (visible H 0.5m; Span 0.24m; T 0.1m) with one arm missing has a raised boss (diam. 0.16m) at the centre. It is standing on a grass-covered cairn (RO025-028003-) (diam. 1.7m E-W; 1.5m N-S; H 0.8m). Standing stone (RO025-028002-) is c. 50m to the W. Description
At the E end of a low knoll. A stone, which was once upright (H c. 1.35m) (OS Name Books) and roughly aligned E-W (NMI file), but is now prone (L 2.1m; dims. 1.4m x 0.3m). It narrows to a tenon (dims 0.1m x 0.3m) at the SW end which is half embedded in a grass-covered cairn (RO025-019002-) (dims 3m E-W; 2.2m N-S; H 0.8m). On a shelf of a S-facing slope. A gallery (dims c. 6.5m NNE-SSW; c. 1m WNW-ESE) with one roofstone (dims 2.4m x 1.25m; T 0.3m) in position and some outer walling at W survives within an overgrown cairn (dims 13.5m N-S; 8m E-W). Description
Towards the bottom of a gentle E-facing slope, and first identified by Gannon (1972). Oval or D-shaped grass-covered area (dims 71m N-S; 63m E-W) defined by a low earthen bank (Wth 3.5m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.6m) NW-N and a scarp (H 0.2m) SE-SW, with traces of a fosse (Wth of top 3.2-3.8m; Wth of base 1.8-2m; int. D 0.2-0.3m; ext. D 0.2-0.3m) SW-N-SE. An original entrance is not identified. Two house sites (RO025-021002-; RO025-021003-) (ext. dims 4m E-W; 2.5m N-S: 12m N-S; 11m E-W) visible as grass-covered stony platforms (max. H 0.8m) are at the centre. The monument is overlain by a N-S field wall towards the perimeter at W and an E-W wall towards the perimeter at S, while a N-S field wall towards the perimeter at E has been removed.
