Description
Towards the top of the N-facing slope of a small hill. D-shaped grass-covered area (dims 41m E-W; 35.7m N-S) defined by a gapped earthen bank (Wth 2.3m at S to 4.3m at SW; int. H 0.2-0.7m; ext. H 0.9-1.3m) SSE-SW and elsewhere by a scarp (H 1.05m at N), with an outer fosse (Wth of base 3.5m; D 0.3m) SE-SW which is clipped on the outside by an E-W field bank at S. The straight side at N is defined by a scarp, and has probably been truncated slightly. Rath (RO016-039----) is c. 280m to the SW and enclosure (RO016-040----) is c. 180m to the S. Description
Towards the top of the S-facing slope of a small hill. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 69m E-W; 62m N-S) defined by a gapped earthen bank (Wth 4-4.8m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 1.4-1.7m) WNW-ENE which is reduced to a scarp (H 1.05-1.3m) elsewhere, and an outer fosse (Wth of top 6.7-7.6m; Wth of base 4.3-5.5m; D 0.3-0.4m) S-W-NE which is replaced by a field bank and hedge elsewhere. There is no identifiable original entrance. Rath (RO016-013----) is c. 180m to the N, and rath (RO016-039----) is c. 180m to the W. See the attached aerial image taken from the SE. Description
On top of an E-W spur. Circular grass-covered but poached area (diam. 36.3m E-W; 35m N-S) defined by a gapped earthen bank (Wth 4.15-4.7m generally to 5.5m at N; int. H 0.2-0.5m; ext. H 1.4-1.6m) reduced to a scarp (H 1.1m) at SW, with a fosse evident as a band of reeds (Wth 3.4m) SW-N-SE. The stone-lined entrance (Wth 2.3m) is at ESE. Description
On the SW-facing slope of a small hill. Circular grass-covered but poached area (diam. 29.5m N-S; 27.5m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 0.3m at E to 1.3m at N), and an outer fosse (Wth 5.5m; D 0.3-0.6m) N-ENE. There is no visible entrance, and an E-W field bank and drain are immediately to the S. Rath (RO016-013----) is c. 280m to the NE and enclosure (RO016-040----) is c. 180m to the E. Description
On the crest of an E-W spur. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 27.5m N-S; 24.5m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.2m at W to 4.5m at S; int. H 0.2m at W to 0.55m at S; ext. H 1.4-1.75m) which is reduced to a scarp (H 1.45m) NW-N, separated by a fosse (Wth of base 4m at S to 6.6m at N) from an outer earthen bank (Wth 3.5-4.2m; int. H 0.8-1.7m; ext. H 0.2-0.8m) NW-E-W.
