Description
In rolling pasture. Depicted as a large, circular, tree-covered enclosure with the designation 'Fort' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. A raised subcircular area (85.7m E-W; 80.4m N-S) enclosed by fragmentary remains of the basal portions of a drystone wall (Wth 3.65m; H 0.3m max.) with evidence of both internal and external wall-facing. Within the interior are a number of low, modern-looking, short, linear stretches of drystone walls. The monument is completely encircled by modern field boundaries. Compiled by: Patrick F. Description
In rolling pasture. A raised circular area (diam. 34.9m) enclosed by a substantial bank of earth and stone (Wth 5.2m; H 0.4-1.2m) with a wide, deep, intervening fosse (Wth 4.6m; D 0.8m) and very fragmentary remains of a low outer bank (Wth 5.2m; H 0.1m). From NNW-N-ENE the bank and fosse have been modified and incorporated into a field boundary and no visible surface trace of the outer bank survives. The original entrance is not recognisable. Description
Freestanding cast-iron water pump, erected c. 1885. Comprising banded shaft, fluted spout, fluted cap with finial over, and with curved pumping arm. Set on concrete base in rectangular enclosure with rendered boundary walls, open to road-frontage to the southwest. Located adjacent to road in the rural landscape to the southeast of Lanesborough.
